Abstract: The present disclosure provides a thermal runaway detection circuit and a method, which is directed to field of batteries. The circuit includes: a sensing module including a terminating resistor; a detection module including a first voltage dividing resistor set and a second voltage dividing resistor set; and a processing module connected to the detection module, wherein the processing module is configured to obtain thermal runaway detection data, and determine whether thermal runaway occurs in the battery pack based on the thermal runaway detection data. The thermal runaway detection data includes first sampled data and second sampled data. The technical solutions in the present disclosure can improve safety of the battery pack.

Abstract: This application discloses a protection circuit associated with a battery management system (BMS). The protection circuit includes a first protection module and a freewheeling module. The first protection module is connected in parallel to a first switch module of the BMS, and the freewheeling module is connected in parallel to a load module of the BMS. The first protection module switches to a charging state when the first switch module is turned off to stabilize a voltage between a first terminal of the first switch module and a second terminal of the first switch module. The freewheeling module is turned on when the first switch module is turned off to stabilize a voltage between the first switch module and the second switch module. The protection circuit mitigates risks of breakdown of the first switch module, and prevents a parasitic inductance from limiting a switching frequency of the first switch module.

A battery pack is connected in series with a discharge circuit unit and a charge circuit unit; a battery management unit is to monitor a temperature of the battery pack, to periodically send, when the temperature of the battery pack is lower than a threshold, a turn-on-instruction to the discharge circuit unit and the charge circuit unit alternately to control the discharge circuit unit and the charge circuit unit to be alternately turned on in heating cycles; the discharge circuit unit is to be turned on according to the turn-on-instruction to enable electricity of the battery pack to flow into the energy storage unit in discharging-phase; and the charge circuit unit is to be turned on according to the turn-on-instruction to enable electricity of the energy storage unit to flow into the battery pack in charging-phase.
