摘要： A data transformation system includes clients, which initiate requests for transformation of data between first and second data formats. The system also includes peer transformation servers having data converters and graphs of available transformations between input and output data formats of such servers. The graph includes unidirectional edges, which extend between corresponding pairs of the formats. The servers collectively include one or more converters for each of the edges. The servers receive the requests and select plural intermediate transformations from the first format to plural intermediate formats, and a final transformation from an intermediate format to the second format. Each of the intermediate and final transformations is associated with a corresponding one of the edges. The servers initiate the converters corresponding to the selected transformations, in order to obtain and dispose the data in the second format. A communication network provides communication among the client and servers.

摘要： A controlled-flow microwave instrument is disclosed for chemical synthesis using heterogeneous or highly viscous starting materials. The instrument includes a microwave source for generating electromagnetic radiation in the microwave frequencies, a microwave cavity in wave communication with the source for exposing compositions placed therein to microwave radiation, a microwave-transparent pressure resistant reaction vessel in the cavity, a source reservoir for starting materials and related compositions, a pump in communication with the source reservoir for pumping heterogeneous or highly viscous materials from the source reservoir to the reaction vessel, and a pressure-resistant valve between the pump and the reaction vessel for isolating the reaction vessel from the pump and the source reservoir during application of microwave energy to compositions in the vessel and from any resulting high pressure generated therein.

摘要： A case for a handheld computer system is described. In an embodiment, the handheld computer system comprises a personal digital assistant. The case has multi-functional capability. The case provides a protective housing for the personal digital assistant and includes a communication module which is integrated into the case for protection against damage, whereas the communication module transmits and receives data for the personal digital assistant. In an embodiment, the communication module comprises a radio frequency (RF) wireless communication device. In an embodiment, the case includes a connector which couples to a communication port located on the back of the personal digital assistant, whereas the connector couples to the personal digital assistant inserted inside the case. In an embodiment, the connector comprises a latching connector which electrically couples to the communication port and which couples to the personal digital assistant. In an embodiment, the latching connector couples to the back cover of the case such that the latching connector can be rotated about a pivot axis to a latched position and to an unlatched position. When the latching connector is rotated to the latched position, the latching connector latches to the back cover and couples (electrically and physically) to the personal digital assistant inserted inside the case. When the latching connector is rotated to the unlatched position, the latching connector unlatches from the back cover, uncouples (electrically and physically) from the personal digital assistant, and rotates through an opening in the back cover to a position outside the case.

摘要： A case for a handheld computer system is described. In an embodiment, the handheld computer system comprises a personal digital assistant. The case has multi-functional capability. A metal plate is coupled to the opening. The metal plate has a thickness that is smaller than the thickness of the outer front cover. In an embodiment, the communication module is positioned between the metal plate and the inner front cover, whereas the metal plate protects the communication module from damage and reduces the stack thickness of the combination of the outer front cover, metal plate, communication module, and inner front cover. Additionally, the metal plate is a passive radiator. The communication module includes an antenna for radiating energy, whereas the antenna is positioned under the passive radiator. The performance of the antenna system formed by the antenna and the passive radiator is optimized by the appropriate selection of the length and width of the passive radiator.

The visually clear systems have reduced formation of surfactant crystals when subject to cool temperature.

摘要： A multi-purpose tool having a pincer-head implement which may be detached from the handles of the tool. The handles are provided with multiple implements, such as screwdrivers, files, blades, or the like, which are slidable between a retracted position, within the handles, to an extended position, extending outwardly from the handles. The handles may be detached from the pincer-head, if desired, when a handle implement is being used. Alternately, the handle implements can be used while the handles are attached to the pincer-head implement. Different pincer-head implements may be provided with the handles, including pliers, shears, wrenches, scissors, and the like. The handles are each provided with a receiver for receiving the free ends of the pincer implement, and the receiver may also be used to receiver socket-type tools, such that the handle acts as a socket, or other tool driver. Locking members are provided for locking the pincer implement to the handles and for locking the handle implements in extended and retracted positions.
