Abstract: A peptide synthesis instrument can be used for small scale peptide synthesis. The instrument can include several unique features, including a compression style reaction vessel permitting quick setup of the reaction vessel, a double reaction vessel system permitting efficient mixing without loss of solvent or solvent-to-resin contact, gravity-fed heated reservoirs establishing a fixed volume for delivery to the reaction vessel, fume-free solvent addition permitting solvent addition to fixed bottles, and an improved amino acid manifold assembly which reduces the number of components and increases the ease of use of the instrument. Each of these features improve upon the current state of the art in solid phase automated peptide synthesizers.

Abstract: Systems and methods for delivering active ingredients, such as pharmaceutically active ingredients, to substrates are described herein. The active ingredients are delivered as fluids to a fluiddispensing device for the creation of one or more drops for deposition onto substrates such as for the creation of microdoses. The invention further includes microdoses made by such processes.

Abstract: A mechanical system for calibration during a chemical feed process includes a ball valve that includes three openings. The ball valve is in communication with a lever, which when turned to a fill position, allows the filling of a drawdown cylinder for calibration. The ball valve automatically returns to its original default position within about a minute with a spring force automatically pushing it back to its start position.

Abstract: A system includes rigid reservoirs, each divided by a flexible diaphragm into a hydraulic chamber and a delivery chamber. The hydraulic chamber is connected to a hydraulic liquid conduit via a valve and the delivery chamber is connected to a delivery conduit. A hydraulic actuator is operable to apply pressure to the hydraulic liquid so as to force the hydraulic liquid into a hydraulic chamber whose valve is open, pushing the diaphragm distally to force the delivery liquid from the delivery chamber into the connected delivery conduit. The actuator is also operable to apply suction to the hydraulic liquid in the hydraulic liquid conduit so as to draw hydraulic liquid from the hydraulic chamber, proximally pulling the flexible diaphragm to draw the delivery liquid from the delivery conduit into the delivery chamber.

Abstract: A micro fluid dosing unit includes a test container containing biomaterial needing oxygen.
