Abstract: A core network device selection method and apparatus are disclosed. The method includes: receiving, by an access network node, an access stratum message sent by a terminal, where the access stratum message includes a NAS request message and a network selection auxiliary parameter; querying configuration information based on the network selection auxiliary parameter, and determining a group identifier of at least one mobility management device group, where the configuration information includes a correspondence between a network selection auxiliary parameter and a group identifier of a mobility management device group; determining a device identifier of a target mobility management device based on the group identifier of the at least one mobility management device group; and sending the NAS request message to a mobility management device indicated by the device identifier of the target mobility management device.

The first request message sent by the terminal device to the first core network element may carry the first indication information, used to indicate that the SSC mode requested by the terminal device is not allowed to be modified, to prevent a network-side network element from subsequently making an erroneous decision, for example, modifying the requested SSC mode to another SSC mode that is not supported by the terminal device.

Abstract: A session establishment method and an apparatus, such that an established packet data network (PDN) connection is transferred to a network slice in a fifth generation (5G) network during inter-system mobility of a terminal. Abstract: A method for reporting radio bearer loss information is provided in an embodiment of this invention. The method comprises: receiving a User Equipment UE Context Release Request message or a Release Access Bearer Request message or an Iu interface release request message all carrying a release cause value; and if the release cause value indicates an abnormal release, reporting radio bearer loss information to a gateway while preserving non-GBR bearers. With the method and apparatus of embodiments of this invention, not only bearer reporting can be realized, but also problems caused by the release of Non-Guaranteed Bandwidth non-GBR bearers can be prevented.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for initiating user plane path re-establishment and a communications system are disclosed. The method includes: determining, by a session management function entity based on first location information of a terminal device, a session service area to which a current session of the terminal device belongs; and after receiving second location information of the terminal device sent by a mobility management function entity, if determining that the second location information is not within the session service area, instructing the terminal device to initiate a re-establishment procedure for the current session or initiate a handover procedure. Due to introduction of the session service area, when the terminal device moves back and forth at edges of service areas of two adjacent user plane function entities, a ping-pong effect caused by frequent handover between the two user plane function entities is avoided, and user experience is improved.
