    摘要: A fluid-filled strut particularly suited for automotive engine torque control applications. The strut includes a frame having a pair of fluid-filled chambers located adjacent opposite ends. Each chamber is defined by juxtaposed recesses in a pair of elastomeric blocks located on opposite sides of the frame. A discrete elongate fluid conduit connects opposite axial ends of each chamber. Attachment plates on opposite sides of the frame are bonded to the elastomeric blocks and are connected together by a connector bolt sleeve that extends across the frame through the fluid-filled chamber. The elastomeric blocks permit the frame to move in alternate axial directions relative to the sleeve, and in response to such motion, fluid in the chamber is displaced in alternate directions through the conduit to effect the desired motion damping. The elastomeric blocks are shaped to provide a desirable controlled snubbing action in both directions.

    摘要: A fluid filled resilient bushing assembly for vibration control in the radial and axial directions or combinations thereof, particularly adapted for use in a suspension system, which comprises an elongate inner rigid member and an elongate outer rigid sleeve member, a resilient member interposed between the inner and outer members. The resilient member together with the outer member defines two circumferentially and axially-spaced chambers and a restricted passageway connecting the chambers. The chambers and passageway contain an incompressible fluid. By axially and circumferentially spacing the chambers, the desired damping in the axial and radial direction is obtained.

    摘要: The transducer is directly associated with a fluid-type damper having a cover member and a cylinder member that undergo telescopic movement relative to each other in response to relative movement between vehicle components interconnected by the damper. In the preferred embodiments, both a passive electrical coil and a magnet are mounted upon the cover member, in fixed relationship to each other. Relative axial telescoping movement between the cover member and the cylinder member of the damper changes the flux field of the magnet and induces in the coil a voltage which is proportional to the relative velocity between the damper members and thus between the vehicle components interconnected by the damper. In an alternative embodiment, the magnet is mounted upon an end portion of the damper cylinder member.

    摘要: Compositions of matter based on the reaction product of a dioxime compound and a polyisocyanate compound, made by reacting the compounds in an inert organic liquid in such a proportion that the ratio of oxime groups to isocyanate groups in the reaction is greater than 2:1, and is preferably about 2.5:1. The reaction product may be used in an adhesive composition which further includes an elastomer with a degree of unsaturation of greater than two mole percent, which is preferably an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer, and which may further include a film-forming adjunct, an inert filler material, and an inert solvent. The adhesive composition, which does not require an oxidizing agent, may be made into a liquid adhesive composition by mixing with an inert organic liquid. The liquid adhesive composition may be used to bond rubber to metal, producing useful bonded and laminated articles, by coating at least one of the substrate surfaces to be bonded with the composition; bringing both substrate surfaces into contact with the composition layered therebetween; and maintaining contact under sufficient conditions of time, temperature, and pressure to effect bonding. Both cured and uncured rubbers may be bonded.

    摘要: An electrorheological fluid torque transmission and conversion system provides for variable control of torque in clutch and brake applications. Communication of mechanical energy between the drive elements is accomplished by magnetic coupling to eliminate the need for a dynamic fluid seal for interface of moving parts to the interior portion of the electrorheological fluid containment chamber. Permanent magnets are associated respectively with each of a first member and a second member which are magnetically coupled through a surface with low magnetic permeability such that the first member and second members rotate in unison. A variety of permanent arrangements may be utilized. Further, the drive element internal to the electrorheological fluid chamber may be both mechanically and electrically decoupled. A floating electrode may be capacitively coupled through the fluid to the power supply. Also provided are inner and outer conductive plates are provided for increased fluid surface contact area. Spacing between the inner and outer plates is determined by the thickness of inner and outer ring members therebetween, which may be easily removed and replaced for simplified assembly and adjustment. Condition responsive control of the electrorheological fluid torque transmission and conversion system is provided by closed-loop feedback of a signal indicative of rotational speed between the drive elements to the control system. The control system may also incorporate internal power generation to provide a self-contained system which does not require an external power source.

    摘要: The piston of the damper, which is of the piston-and-cylinder type, has therein at least one fluid passageway, a pair of fluid inlet/outlet ports opening from one end of the piston and communicating with the passageway at spaced locations along its length, an outlet/inlet port opening from the opposite end of the piston and communicating with the passageway at a location along its length intermediate the locations of the inlet/outlet ports, and a valve element mounted within the passageway for movement transversely thereof between an open-valve position, where the valve element permits relatively free flow of fluid through the passageway, and a closed-valve position wherein the valve element obstructs the fluid flow. The valve element has at least one pressure-equalizing opening extending therethrough and is substantially pressure balanced in a plurality of orthogonal directions. The valve element is driven by an actuator which may be and preferably is a linear actuator of a springless single acting type.
