Abstract:
A control circuit and method for a ripple regulator system generate a ripple signal in-phase and synchronous with an inductor current of the ripple regulator system, and extract a ripple information proportional to the amplitude of the ripple signal. The ripple signal is used for triggering control in PWM signal generation to make the ripple regulator system have small ripples and better loop stability simultaneously. The ripple information is used to improve the output offset of the ripple regulator system that is caused by the ripple signal.
Abstract:
In addition to an output voltage control loop, a dead-time optimization loop is provided for a digital synchronous switching converter to dynamically adjust the dead-time for the power switches of the converter. It is extracted a minimal feedback signal at a steady state while the output voltage remains under a specification, and a maximal efficiency of the digital synchronous switching converter is thus obtained.
Abstract:
A power-factor-improving circuit and method for an offline converter block the DC component and obtain the AC component of an input voltage of the offline converter. The AC component is superpositioned onto a DC bias signal to generate a dimming signal for the offline converter to adjust an output current of the offline converter. The offline converter has a high power factor due to the dimming signal with the AC component of the input voltage. In addition, the average of the dimming signal is determined by the DC bias signal, hence the output current can be precisely controlled according to the DC bias signal.

An apparatus and method for use with a PMSM detect the fall time or the rise time and the fall time of a motor current in the PMSM under different voltage vectors when the PMSM is in start-up to determine an initial rotor position for the PMSM at standstill.
Abstract:
A power transistor chip with built-in enhancement mode metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor and application circuit thereof provides an enhancement mode metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor in association with two series connected resistors to act as a start-up circuit for the AC/DC voltage converter. The start-up circuit can be shut off after the pulse width modulation circuit of the AC/DC voltage converter circuit works normally and still capable of offering a function of brown out detection for the pulse width modulation circuit as well. Besides, the enhancement mode metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor is built in the power transistor chip without additional masks and processes during the power transistor chip being fabricated such that the entire manufacturing process is simplified substantively with the economical production cost.
Abstract:
A charging circuit with an application system thereof provides an error amplifier to control a transistor switch for controlling the charging power source to charges the battery. When the voltage difference between the power source and load terminals of the transistor switch drops along with the transistor switch being turned on, the output voltage of the error amplifier changes as well to increase the turning-on resistance of the transistor switch such that the voltage difference between the power source and load terminals is capable of maintaining at a value above a certain reference level for avoiding the unstable state resulting from the charging circuit being turned on and off frequently.

A charger for a portable device includes a USB detector connected to a data pin to detect the effective resistance on the data pin before a USB transceiver is enabled, to identify USB or adapter plug in and control a charging current for a battery accordingly.
Abstract:
An overstress protection apparatus includes a switch detector. The switch is arranged in a grounding path of a load system. The detector detects the current, voltage or temperature of the load system to determine a signal for controlling the switch, to thereby protect the load system working in normal conditions.

A fixed-frequency control circuit and method detect the difference between the frequency of a pulse width modulation signal and a target frequency to adjust a current used to determine the on-time or off-time of the pulse width modulation signal, such that the frequency of the pulse width modulation signal is stable at the target frequency.
Abstract:
An apparatus for interleaved phase shift clock synchronization includes a master clock generator and at least one slave clock generator. The master clock generator provides a ramp signal or reset signal for each slave clock generator to generate a clock synchronized with the clock of the master clock generator, and the master and slave clock generators have different reference voltages for generating clocks. Therefore, the clocks generated will be synchronized and interleaved phase with each other.
