Abstract:
An expandable well screen has a desirable thin-wall construction together with a simplified fabrication method. In fabricating the screen, a flexible sheet of metal mesh filter media is diffusion bonded to an inner side of a perforated metal sheet which is then deformed to a tubular shape to form a filter structure having an outer perforated tubular shroud interiorly lined with the filter media. The tubular filter structure is telescoped onto a perforated base pipe and has its opposite ends sealingly secured thereto to complete the expandable well screen.
Abstract:
A method for producing a sealing connection between a filter mat of a tubular filter element and a metallic head piece encircling the filter element at one end. The head piece has an annular groove accommodating the edge of the filter mat. In order to reduce the internal diameter of the annular groove, the wall adjacent to the periphery is compressed by the periphery of the head piece towards the interior by applying a force of pressure which is directed radially towards the interior. The wall of the annular groove adjacent to the periphery is provided with an enlargement which enlarges the diameter of the head piece. The force of pressure for compressing the wall is applied in the area of said enlargement.
Abstract:
A fluid filter includes a cylindrical pleated filter media disposed around a central perforated support core or self-supporting. An outer support sleeve comprising a extruded nylon, diamond-shaped mesh is stretched across the pleated media, and elastically conforms to the pleat peaks to structurally retain the pleats of the pleat peaks in fixed relation to one another. A bead of adhesive is then applied over the sleeve to fix the sleeve to the pleat peaks. End caps are disposed at opposite ends of the fluid filter.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a filter apparatus for use in removing acids and particulate impurities contained in a fluid such as the oil contained in the oil circulation system for a diesel engine. In one embodiment, the filter apparatus includes an outer canister, an inner shell, and a particulate filter and an acid-neutralizing compound contained within the inner shell.
Abstract:
To develop a filter device for filtering a hydraulic fluid with a filter housing, in which a filter element is disposed, in such a way that it ensures protection of a hydraulic pump and highly stressed hydraulic components and has a compact, easy-to-service form of construction, it is proposed according to the invention that the filter element comprises a first and a second subelement, the first subelement having a higher filter fineness than the second subelement and both subelements being insertable through a common insertion opening into the filter housing, and that it is possible for hydraulic fluid to be fed to each subelement via a separate supply inflow and for filtered hydraulic fluid to be discharged from both subelements via a common outflow. Furthermore, a filter element and a hydraulic circuit for a filter device of this type are proposed.
Abstract:
A filter is disclosed that includes a cylindrical filter element having a longitudinal axis, an outer periphery, an inner periphery, and a plurality of longitudinal pleats arranged in a spiral configuration in close proximity to one another. Each of the pleats has a pair of legs, and the legs of each pleat are joined to one another at a root. The roots of adjacent pleats are radially spaced from one another about the inner periphery of the filter element.
Abstract:
A filter for subterranean use includes a filter body containing a filter medium, and a restraining member disposed around the filter body. The inner periphery of the restraining member is sufficiently close to the outer periphery of the filter body to prevent the filter body from being damaged by radially outward forces encountered during operation of the filter within a well.
Abstract:
A filter element comprising at least one elastomeric end-cap, a thin-walled pleated filter medium having edges thereon constructed and arranged for positioning proximate to the elastomeric end-caps, and a polymeric adhesive material within the end-caps for sealing the edges of the filter media therein, and a method for producing the same.
Abstract:
A fastener for an outer strap of an air filter cartridge is provided. The outer straps have apertures formed on either end of the strap. An eyelet assembly is secured within one of the apertures. The eyelet assembly includes an eyelet and a backing washer. The eyelet has an annular top placed flush with one side of the strap and a sleeve received within the aperture. The peripheral edge of the sleeve is crimped outwardly to secure the backing washer to the side of the strap opposite the eyelet top. When the strap is secured about a circumference of the cartridge filter, the apertures are aligned and a rivet is placed within the apertures. The rivet has a head and a body. The rivet body pulls the crimped eyelet sleeve and washer toward the rivet head and the ends of the straps are held in firm connection with one another.
Abstract:
Filter cartridge assemblies are provided with a generally cylindrical filter medium which defines a cylindrically shaped core space, and a pair of end caps. A threaded base member having detent projections receives at least one of the end caps, which itself is annular and has an interior cylindrical surface defining an interior space in alignment with the core space. The interior space is also provided with interrupted threads defining detent spaces. In use, therefore, the lower end cap may be threadably coupled with the threaded base member such that the detent projections are seated in respective ones of the detent, thereby minimizing the unintended threaded uncoupling therebetween. In another aspect, the filter cartridge is most preferably “coreless” and is capable of being sleeved over a permanent, reusable perforated core element. However, the core element is removably insertable within a base member to which the filter cartridge may be coupled. Specifically, one end of the core element is provided with an annular set ring. The set ring is rigidly connected to the exterior surface in surrounding relationship to the core element at a location spaced axially from the one of its ends (e.g., the lower end) towards the other end (e.g., the upper end). In use, the annular set ring provides a seat which bears against the base when the end of the core element is forcibly inserted thereinto.
