Abstract:
The compound sheet made of absorbent paper consists of at least two crepe paper sheets with a specific weight between 12 and 30 g/m2. At least one sheet includes a first embossing pattern with bosses pointing inward the compound sheet and having a height of between 0.5 and 2.5 mm, a density of between 3 and 20 bosses per cm2 and covering 5 to 60% of the surface. The compound sheet is characterized in that the embossed sheet comprises a second embossing pattern with bosses 0.1 to 0.30 mm high.

Abstract:
The present invention is a method of applying a chemical treating agent to a cellulose web. The invention is further a means of increasing the bulk, absorbency and pattern definition in an embossed cellulose web without losing softness in the web. Finally, the invention includes products produced by the foregoing processes.
Abstract:
A method of producing a paper product which is formed from a pair of embossed webs enables the embossments to be arranged in either a nested or a foot-to-foot configuration. An embossing pattern has a machine direction and a cross-machine direction and is formed by a plurality of embossments. Adjacent embossments are spaced from each other in either or both of the machine direction and the cross-machine direction by an amount which exceeds the dimension of the embossments in that direction. A pair of embossing rolls are engraved with the same embossing pattern. When it is desired to produce foot-to-foot embossments, the embossing rolls are rotatably mounted so that the embossments on each roll are aligned. When it is desired to produce nested embossments, the embossing rolls are rotatably mounted so that the embossments on each of the rolls are positioned between the embossments on the other roll.
Abstract:
A process for making two-ply nested paper towels utilizing matched steel engraved rolls, each steel roll having male and female elements spaced apart by a neutral zone, wherein nesting and ply attachment are achieved by partially conforming each of two plied to the steel rolls, applying adhesive to the raised portions of at least one of the partially conformed plies, and partially engaging the two steel rolls such that the raised portions of one ply contact the depressions of the other ply.
Abstract:
A MACHINE FOR PRODUCING LAMINATED EMBOSSED WEBS USEFUL AS TOWELING, NAPKINS, PLACEMATS AND THE LIKE. THE MACHINE EMPLOYS A NOVEL ARRANGEMENT OF EMBOSSING AND LAMINATOR ROLLS TO ACHIEVE A NESTED CONFIGURATION OF THE EMBOSSED, INWARDLY-EXTENDING PROJECTIONS AND AVOIDS THE SPEED LIMITATIONS INHERENT IN PRIOR MACHINES.
Abstract:
Multilayer sheet (10) of the type comprising a first layer (11) and a second layer (12) superimposed and constrained to each other through adhesive material (17) interposed between them in small amounts, wherein both said layers (11, 12) are embossed; characterised in that: said first layer (11) comprises a first (13) embossing matrix so as to make a plurality of first projections having a preset depth (d), and a second embossing matrix (15) so as to make a plurality of second projections having a greater depth (D) of said preset depth (d) of said first (13) embossing matrix; said second layer (12) comprises a first (14) embossing matrix so as to make a plurality of first projections having a preset depth (d′), and a second (16) embossing matrix so as to make a plurality of second projections having a greater depth (D′) than said preset depth (d′) of said first (14) embossing matrix; said adhesive material (17) being arranged at the contact points between said second (15) embossing matrix of said first layer (11) and said second layer (12).
Abstract:
A device is provided to produce an embossed multi-ply material, comprising: a first embossing-laminating unit (3) comprising a first embossing cylinder (5) equipped with first projections (5P) defining a first pattern, a first pressure roller (7) cooperating with said first embossing cylinder (5), a first laminating roller (9) and a first glue dispenser (11), disposed between said first pressure roller (7) and said first laminating roller (9); an embossing unit comprising at least a second embossing cylinder (25) provided with second projections (25P) defining a second pattern and a second pressure roller (27) cooperating with said second embossing cylinder (25); a first path (P1) through said first embossing-laminating unit (3); a second path (P2) for at least a second ply (V2) towards and through said second embossing unit (23); a third path (P3) for said third ply (V3).
Abstract:
Apparatus for the production of a paper web, comprising: a first embossing unit (1) with a first embossing cylinder (2) and a corresponding counter-cylinder (3) for embossing a first paper ply (4); a second embossing unit (5) with a second embossing cylinder (6) and a corresponding counter-cylinder (7) for embossing a second paper ply (8), such that, once embossed, the said plies have a series of oppositely oriented reliefs (R4, R8), said embossing units (1, 5) being synchronized so that the said reliefs are nested into each other; a sizing unit (1C, 2C, 3C) associated with said first embossing cylinder (2) to distribute a predetermined amount of glue on the side of the second ply (8) opposed to that from which the respective reliefs (R8) emerge; means (11) for joining to each other the plies (4, 8) exiting from the apparatus. The apparatus comprises means (12) to form, on said second ply (8), a series of further reliefs (RC) oppositely oriented with respect to those (R8) previously formed by the second embossing unit (5), creating, on the same second ply (8), a step (S) between each further relief (RC) and the corresponding relief (R8) produced by means of the second embossing unit.
