Abstract: Corrugated paper includes first and second sheets of paper; and a layer of structured paper disposed between the first and second sheets of paper. The layer of structured paper includes cells, in which at least some of the cells are negative Poisson's ratio (NPR) cells. Each NPR cell includes top and bottom walls, and side walls angled inwards toward a central portion of the NPR cell, such that application of a compressive force between the top and bottom walls of the NPR cell causes a lateral dimension of the NPR cell between opposite side walls to decrease. The NPR cells exhibit a Poisson's ratio of between 0 and −1.

Abstract: A machine for making insulation may include two or more rotatory members configured to pull a precut insulation product at a first rate, wherein the precut insulation product comprises a first paper layer, a second paper layer, and a continuous paper core sheet, a first restraint and a second restraint spaced apart a predetermined distance to create a first space therebetween, and two or more second rotary members configured to feed a continuous paper sheet at a second rate into the first space such that the continuous paper sheet forms a plurality of flexible loops defining a plurality of air channels that extend in a direction that is substantially perpendicular with a machine direction. The first rate may be slower than the second rate.

Abstract: A repulpable insulation material includes a batt formed of a mixture of thermoplastic binder fibers and cellulose fibers bound together by the thermoplastic binder fibers, the thermoplastic binder fibers making up about 0.5% to 25% by weight of the batt, the repulpable insulation material having a weight within a range from 1000 GSM to 1600 GSM, wherein subjecting the repulpable insulation material to a repulpability test produces greater than 85% fiber yield.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition for use as an adhesive, paint, coating, resin, (surface) size, composite, gel or hydrogel, said composition comprising microfibrillated cellulose (“MFC”). In addition to microfibrillated cellulose, these compositions comprise at least one solvent, said solvent preferably comprising or consisting of water, and at least one compound that is (a) capable of polymerizing, or has already partly or fully, polymerized, and that (b) has at least two groups available for hydrogen bonding, preferably OH groups, that are capable of crosslinking with at least one functional group of the microfibrillated cellulose. In these compositions, the microfibrillated cellulose primarily functions as a crosslinking agent (while it is by no means excluded that the microfibrillated cellulose additionally has other functionalities, such as acting as viscosity modifier and/or thixotropic additive), integrating the compound that (a) is capable of polymerizing or that has already partly or fully, polymerized, and that (b) has at least two groups available for hydrogen bonding, into a gel-like three-dimensional network.
