    摘要: Apparatus for fabricating discrete segments of cushioned web material for use as dunnage. The apparatus includes a mobile supply cart having at least one substantially horizontal support arm for receiving the hollow core of rolled web material. The apparatus also includes a separate driven rugation device with feed rollers for directing multiple plies of the web material in overlying, contacting relationship along a single path of travel. The separate cart and rugation device may be removably interconnected for lateral alignment. Driven interdigitized texturing rolls downstream of the feed rollers emboss a raised pattern on the web material, and a plurality of separating rollers downstream from the texturing rolls separate the plies of web material and direct them in divergent paths of travel. Combining rolls recombine the plies of textured web material such that the embossed areas of each ply do not directly overlie each other but are offset, creating void areas between the adjacent plies. A driven cutter downstream of the combining rolls severs the recombined offset embossed plies into discrete segments. The cutter may have a rotating disc blade with a peripheral edge which moves transverse to the longitudinal length of the plies to cut the plies. Last, driven exit rollers convey the cut segments of material from the rugation device.

A method of producing the laminated board comprises: embossing first and second plies to produce first embossed projections extending from first sides of the first and second plies; placing adhesive on the first embossed projections on the first side of each of the first and second embossed plies; bringing the first and second plies together such that the first embossed projections on the first and second embossed plies are aligned; applying pressure to the first side of each of the first and second embossed plies to cause the first and second embossed plies to adhere together to form a composite ply; and adhering first and second flat outer plies onto first and second sides of the composite ply. Corresponding apparatus is provided.

    摘要: The disclosure of the present application relates to embossment between engraved rollers of a series or plurality of sheets of relatively heavypaper or similar matted fibrous materials to obtain varying patterns of rows of mound-like embossments which are arranged in successive areas, usually successive squares, longitudinally and then diagonally in respect to the main axis of the paper sheets. After embossment the sheets are passed through shorter or longer paths of travel before again being assembled so that their matching mounds and recesses will be offset in such a manner that they will no longer match. The disclosure further relates to the composite packing material and to a method and apparatus for making the same.
