    Abstract: A rotating-piston type rotary damper includes a rotor of substantially triangular prism shape, a rotor housing having an operation chamber provided with a stationary gear with external teeth, a main shaft having an operation shaft portion and an eccentric, and a lid having a through hole for permitting passage therethrough of the operation shaft portion. The rotor has a central circular through hole formed normal to its end faces so that one open side thereof serves as a fitting hole for the eccentric and the other open side thereof is provided therein with a gear with internal teeth for engagement with the external teeth and is accommodated in the operation chamber to define volume-variable compartments containing viscous liquid. The rotor has communication holes for transferring the viscous liquid in a volume-variable compartment of decreasing volume when the rotor is rotated into adjacent volume-variable compartments.

    Abstract: The present invention is provided with a mechanism for controlling the opening and closing of a door comprising a speed reduction means for reducing a rotational speed. A high speed shaft is connected to the speed reduction means and is connectable to a means for rotating the input shaft, and a low speed output shaft is connected to the speed reduction means. A governor is mounted on the input shaft for limiting the rotational speed thereof, to also regulate the rotational speed of the output shaft. A brake is provided for preventing rotation of the output shaft, and a self-closing mechanism is operatively connected to the door. The self-closing mechanism is adapted for storing energy when the door is opened to an open position, and a connecting means operatively connects the output shaft to the self-closing mechanism. A releasing means is provided for releasing the brake to permit rotation of the output shaft under the urging of the self-closing mechanism whereby the self-closing mechanism releases the energy stored therein so as to close the door to a closed position when the brake is released by the releasing means.

    Abstract: A rotary damper includes a sealed cylindrical housing containing viscous oil, a driven shaft rotatably supported within the housing, and a plurality of rotors and spacers arranged alternately and disposed upon a portion of the driven shaft extending in the axial direction of the housing. The rotors are held rotatably in unison with the driven shaft. The spacers are secured to the housing so as to permit the driven shaft to be rotated relative to the spacers. The rotors and spacers are formed with respective air-purging notches communicating with gaps defined between the rotors and the spacers whereby the air can be eliminated from such gaps and the viscous oil disposed within such gaps in order to provide the damper with the desired damping efficiency.

    Abstract: A one-way damper has a rotor which is provided with a braking disc at one of its ends. The braking disc is received in a housing of the damper and the housing is filled with oil. The other end of the rotor extends outward from the housing and has a gear loosely mounted thereon. The gear is engaged with a coil spring. When the gear rotates in one direction, the coil spring is reduced in diameter so that it grips the rotor, making it possible for the torque of the gear to be transmitted to the rotor through the coil spring. When the gear rotates in the other direction, the coil spring is expanded in diameter so that it does not grip the rotor, making it possible for the gear to turn freely. The one-way damper is used in association with a lid or door to damp one but not the other of the opening and closing operations.
