Abstract:
A hinge system for opening a cover pivotably connected to a device housing. The hinge system includes a rotating member in the device housing and a shaft connected between the cover and the rotating member. A non-rotating member in the device housing receives the rotating member and a spring connected to the device housing and biased to rotate the shaft.
Abstract:
Sliding doors, e.g., for pieces of furniture, particularly of the kind with two shutters and reduced height, having coplanar closing and opening by overlapping of the shutters. Support and translation of each shutter is provided by a respective clamp placed on the edge of the outer side, the clamp being linked to a pair of little carriages that can slide transversally with respect to the same shutter, because they are supported and guided by a respective carriage, which in turn can slide longitudinally along the edge of an opening, the respective carriage being led by a rail and control tracks, and engaged by a loose roller that constrains the respective carriage into a couple of longitudinal cams or grooves.
Abstract:
A window assembly having a window frame and at least one primary sash mounted in the window frame. The primary sash has a plurality of sash members forming a primary sash perimeter and a first glazing panel mounted in the primary sash perimeter. At least one secondary sash is pivotally attached directly to the primary sash perimeter along an interior surface thereof so that the secondary sash is rotatably movable between a closed position and an open position relative to the primary sash. The secondary sash has a plurality of secondary sash members forming a secondary sash structure and a second glazing panel mounted in the secondary sash perimeter. An air chamber is located between the primary sash and the secondary sash that is substantially closed to the interior of the building structure. At least one accessory channel is locating along at least one side of the secondary sash members.
Abstract:
A braking apparatus has a main body for connection to one of a frame and a closure member mounted on the frame to undergo linear reciprocating movement between open and closed positions of the closure member. A tubular shaft is mounted in a main body for undergoing rotation. A resistance member is rotatably mounted on the tubular shaft and is disposed in an interior space of the main body containing a braking fluid. A spiral rod for connection to the other of the frame and the closure member is screw-threadably engaged with the tubular shaft so that the tubular shaft undergoes rotation when the spiral rod and the tubular shaft are relatively moved in an axial direction of the spiral rod. When the closure member undergoes linear reciprocating movement, the main body or spiral rod relatively moves in the axial direction of the spiral rod, the tubular shaft and the resistance member undergo rotational movement, and the resistance member receives a resistance of the braking fluid so that the tubular shaft rotates under a braking force of the braking fluid and reduces a movement speed of the closure member.
Abstract:
A dampened hinge and hinge system for appliances is provided. The system includes first and second hinge portions, at least one of which includes a dampener. The dampener can be a push-dampener, a pull-dampener or a push/pull-dampener. The hinge system allows for movement of the door between a closed position, a fully opened position and a secondary opened position such as a broil-stop position, and the door is self-supporting in the secondary opened position. The first and second hinge portions each include a guide channel, a claw pivotably connected to the guide channel and a link having a first end connected to the claw. The first hinge portion includes a spring having a first end connected to a second end of the link and a second end connected to the guide channel. The second hinge portion includes a dampener that is operably connected between the guide channel and the second end of the link. Both the first and second hinge portions can include a dampener.
Abstract:
To provide a rotary damper having a compact shape with a short axial length and capable of absorbing an extremely high torque acting temporarily in the case of a door abruptly closing. In a rotary damper (1) in which a rotary member (5) includes: a basement portion (6) axially supported by a drive shaft (4); a torque adjustor (7) capable of relatively moving on the drive shaft (4); a slide member (8) positioned through and facing the torque adjustor (7); and a spring (9) for energizing the slide member (8) to a cam, the slide member (8) is moved in the radial direction by relatively moving the torque adjustor (7) to a position having a predetermined angle against the drive shaft (4), and a predetermined radial clearance is formed between an outer surface (8b) of the slide member (8) and an inner peripheral surface (3a) of a chamber, thereby changing the clearance to change a torque generated by the rotation of the rotational member (5).

Abstract:
A hinge used to mount a door to an overhead storage cabinet is disclosed. The hinge provides a combination linear and articulated motion to provide the clearance between the door of the cabinet and the upper, outer corner of the cabinet. Further, the hinge provides a user assist on the opening of the cabinet door and a self-dampening motion on the closing of the cabinet door without the use of pneumatic cylinders.
Abstract:
A counteraction system for a sectional door includes a counterweight system that helps counterbalance the weight of the door and helps hold the door in place when the door is fully open. The counterweight system comprises a suspended string of individual deadweights. As the door opens, the weights sequentially lower onto the floor, in a stacked arrangement, one atop the other. Thus, the hanging weight of the counterweight system decreases as the door opens. To avoid having the counterweight system slam the door open against a hard stop, the counteraction system also includes a brake system that helps bring the door to a smooth stop at the door's fully open position. In some embodiments, the brake system includes a cable that traverses the direction that the door travels. As the door approaches its open position, a protrusion on the door catches the cable, which deflects to decelerate the door.
Abstract:
A heavily insulated emergency smoke hatch door is equipped with an operating mechanism which is located external to a cooler and/or freezer. This external location of the operating mechanism provides for the accommodation of heavier weight doors without effecting the venting area or access to the interior of the cooler and/or freezer. A latching mechanism keeps the door in the closed position and may be equipped with an automatic release device which will release the door upon sensing of a fire for heat within the cooler and/or freezer. Once the hatch door is released, the operating mechanism is operable to open the door for venting and access.
