Abstract:
A highly durable cathode component for a discharge lamp is provided. A cathode component for a discharge lamp includes a barrel having a wire diameter of 2 to 35 mm and a tapered front end, wherein the cathode component comprises a tungsten alloy containing 0.5 to 3% by weight, in terms of oxide (ThO2), of a thorium component, not less than 90% of tungsten crystals are accounted for by tungsten crystals having a grain size in the range of 1 to 80 μm, as observed in terms of an area ratio of 300 μm×300 μm in unit area in a circumferential cross section of the barrel, and are accounted for by tungsten crystals having a grain size in the range of 10 to 120 μm, as observed in terms of an area ratio of 300 μm×300 μm in unit area in a side cross section of the barrel.

Abstract:
An electron emissive material comprises an alkaline earth metal halide composition and operable to emit electrons on excitation. A lamp including an envelope, an electrode including an alkaline earth metal halide electron emissive material and a discharge material, is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A discharge lamp encompassing a sealed-off tube filled with a discharge gas and a discharge electrode provided in the sealed-off tube. The discharge electrode embraces a supporting base and an electron-emitting layer formed of a wide bandgap semiconductor and provided on the supporting base, implemented by a plurality of protrusions, at least part of surfaces of the protrusions are unseen from a perpendicular direction to thereof above a top surface of the electron-emitting layer, dangling bonds of the wide bandgap semiconductor at the surfaces are terminated with hydrogen atoms.
Abstract:
Cylindrical electrodes (7) are arranged opposite to each other in an internal space (5) of a hermetically sealed glass tube (2) which is filled with a rare gas and a mercury gas. The cylindrical electrodes (7) is mainly composed of nickel (Ni), and one or both of yttrium (Y) and yttrium oxide (YOx) are dispersed in the cylindrical electrodes (7).
