    摘要: An anesthetic gas scavenging system is provided. The system includes a housing having one or more apertures placed proximate to a patient's mouth and a vacuum source interconnected with the housing for excavating anesthesia exhaled by the patient. The housing can take the form of a circular tube and can be positioned to rest about a patient's neck. The housing can have closed ends attachable together about a patient's neck. Alternatively, the housing can take on other desired shapes, and can be suspended on a strap about a patient's neck to rest on the patient's chest.

    摘要: A combined nasal anaesthesia breathing mask and oral scavenging hood is provided herein. Such combination includes a nasal anaesthesia breathing mask with inlet means to the nasal anaesthesia mask for connection to a conventional anaesthesia breathing circuit. An oral scavenging hood is operatively associated with or is physically associatable with respect to, the nasal anaesthesia breathing mask for placement over only the mouth of the patient undergoing inhaled sedation. An inlet means is provided to the oral scavenging hood for connection to a conventional scavenging circuit. The inventive concept is that there is no gaseous communication between the nasal anaesthesia breathing mask and the oral scavenging hood. In this way, inhalation of anaesthesia gas can take place simultaneously with the scavenging of exhaled gases.

    摘要: A therapeutic gas delivery device includes a monitor having an inlet and an outlet, a source of therapeutic gas in fluid communication with the monitor inlet, and a gas delivery tube in fluid communication with the monitor outlet. The monitor includes a control valve having a normally open port, a normally closed port, and a common port. The common port is connected to the monitor outlet over a gas line and the normally open port and normally closed port are connected to the monitor inlet and atmosphere. The valve is switchable between a first position wherein the therapeutic gas passes through the monitor and a second position wherein atmospheric air or gas passes through the monitor. A flow sensor is placed in the gas line to measure the flow of gas through the second line and produces a signal indicative of the flow of gas through the gas line. A sensor by-pass tube extends around the flow sensor to allow a predetermined portion of the gas to by-pass the flow sensor. A computer is operatively connected to the flow sensor. The computer may be programmed to control the switching of the control valve in response to signals received from the flow sensor.

    摘要: An anesthesia machine includes a breathing system for delivering a gas mixture, including an anesthetic gas, to a patient for inhalation and for collecting exhaled gas from the patient. A cannister flow communicates with the breathing system and removes carbon dioxide from the exhaled gas. A pressure relief valve includes a housing that defines a chamber in flow communication with the breathing system, a valve member for regulating a flow of gas from the breathing system into the chamber and venting gas into the chamber when pressure in the breathing system exceeds a pressure threshold setting, and a plunger for preventing the flow of gas into the chamber independent of the pressure in the breathing system without changing the pressure threshold setting. The cannister, pressure relief valve, and other components are secured to a manifold having internal flow channels.

    摘要: Apparatus provides an interface between a computer, various data sources such as patient monitors and a printer via the parallel printer port of a computer for use in a data management system for anesthesia. Substantially any computer may be utilized by use of the parallel printer port to provide fast and efficient inputting of data to the computer, communication with monitors and other data sources and to enable the use of the printer via the parallel printer port. The patient's vital signs and data from other data sources is supplied to the computer via the status lines of the parallel printer port while the data lines are utilized to control a processor in the apparatus with the printer disabled by reason of the absence of a strobe pulse. The apparatus includes signal processing circuitry which multiplexes a number of analog data signals and converts them to digital signals for storage and transmission to the computer upon request. RS232 type signals are also converted to TTL signals for storage and transmission to the computer upon demand. Upon the computer providing the strobe pulse, printouts of data may be provided via the printer.

    摘要: A scavenging medical hood includes a hood for fitting over the head of a patient. A gas inlet port leads to the interior of the hood for supplying the interior of the hood with an appropriate respiratory gas and an aerosolized medicinal agent contained within that respiratory gas. A gas outlet connects between the interior of the hood and the ambient air for discharge of gas from the interior of the hood including any residual aerosolized medicinal agent remaining in that discharged gas. A vacuum port is located adjacent to the gas outlet. A vacuum is applied to the vacuum port via a suitable motorized vacuum source. Vacuum at the vacuum port aspirates gas from the area of the gas outlet to aspirate respiratory gas, residual aerosolized medicinal agent still suspended in the respiratory gas and ambient air from the vicinity of the gas outlet into the vacuum port. A filter located in the vacuum line serves to filter out the residual aerosolized medicinal agent from the aspirate in the gas line.
