    摘要: A metallic cable adapted to be used to advantage for reinforcing various types of elastomeric articles such as belts and motor vehicle tires has a core formed from two or more metallic filaments wound together into a helical shape without twisting one filament about the other whereby each core filament lies in line contact with at least one other core filament, the line of contact being parallel to the direction of the filament and a helically wound wrapping filament is disposed about the core filaments. The wrapping filament is helically wound at the same lay and hand as the core filaments and is positioned on the inside of the helix formed by the core filaments.

The combination cords include an organic and a somewhat greater length of substantially inextensible material, e.g., glass, so combined therewith as to yield a unit length, and are tailor-made to exhibit a particular degree of elongation depending upon the particular combination of variable lengths and the selection of organic elements to be combined with the glass.

    摘要: A fiber especially suitable for reinforcing bitumen-containing materials which comprises a fiber of polyethylene terephthalate having a tenacity of at least about 7.5 grams per denier, an elongation at break of at least about 9 percent, an elongation of not more than about 5 percent under a load of 5 grams per denier and a shrinkage of less than 4 percent when kept under a tension of 0.05 grams per denier for 4 minutes at about 160*C. Also a process for producing this fiber and a bitumen-containing structure reinforced therewith are disclosed.
