Abstract: Arm-like robots and systems and methods that can move objects using multiple cooperating robots in accordance with various embodiments of the invention are described. In one embodiment, the arm-like robot includes a body having two ends, where the body comprises a plurality of actuated joints. In addition, the arm-like robot can include end-effectors attached at each end of the body, where each of the end-effectors is capable of both anchoring the arm-like robot to form a base and connecting to an object. The arm-like robot can also include at least one controller configured to control motion of the plurality of actuated joints and end-effectors so that one of the end-effectors can anchor the arm-like robot and form a base and the other end-effector can connect to a target object.

Abstract: A method of forming a conformal layer including TiN in a via includes introducing a precursor into a reaction chamber according to a first exposure schedule. The precursor includes non-halogenated metal-organic titanium. The first exposure schedule indicates precursor exposure periods. Each precursor exposure period is associated with a particular duration of time and a particular duty cycle over which to introduce the precursor during the particular duration of time. The method includes introducing a co-reactant into the reaction chamber according to a second exposure schedule. The co-reactant includes nitrogen. The second exposure schedule indicates co-reactant exposure periods. Each co-reactant exposure period is associated with a particular duration of time and a particular duty cycle over which to introduce the co-reactant during the particular duration of time. The method includes providing the conformal layer including TiN in the via based on said introducing the precursor and the co-reactant.

Abstract: A microfluidic device having an array for cell trapping is used to analyze cell-cell interaction at single-cell level. The microfluidic trapping array efficiently pairs single cells in isolated compartments in an easy-to-operate manner. A first cell is squeezed through an opening of a first cavity by a strong forward flow. Subsequently, a second cell is pushed into a second cavity by a low reverse flow. The trapped cell pairs are sealed by an oil phase or hydrogel into isolated compartments, thereby eliminating interference from other cell pairs or the surrounding media.

The device includes one or more strips of compliant jammable layer components connected in parallel, and encapsulated within a flexible envelope such that each of the one or more strips of compliant jammable layer components are pneumatically connected. The device further includes a negative pressure pump coupled to the flexible envelope, such that the application of negative pressure to the flexible envelope by the negative pressure pump causes the one or more strips of compliant jammable layer components to jam and thereby transition the retraction device from a malleable state to a rigid state.

Abstract: A device receives a real image (e.g., photograph or video frame) that includes a human. The device creates a synthetic image corresponding to the real image. The synthetic image includes a synthetic environment and a humanoid shape that correspond to the human. The device predicts, using a trained viewpoint neural network and based on the synthetic image, a predicted viewpoint heatmap. The device predicts, using a trained pose neural network and based on the synthetic image, a predicted pose heatmap. The device provides, as input to a random synthetic environment, the predicted viewpoint heatmap and the predicted pose heatmap and creates a reconstructed three-dimensional pose based on the predicted viewpoint heatmap, the predicted pose heatmap, and the random synthetic environment. The device classifies the reconstructed three-dimensional pose as a particular type of pose of the human in the real image.
