Authentication circuits are provided between a debug I/F circuit and a debug terminal. The authentication circuit transmits a transmission key externally at the time of activation, and authenticates based on a reception signal and the transmission key, and enables access to the debug I/F. Thus, it is possible to prevent a spurious access from the debug I/F by a third person by the authentication circuit.

A non-contact IC tag system includes a plurality of non-contact IC tags, each of which includes identification information and a memory for storing a predetermined amount of data; and a reader/writer that sends an operation command via radio to each of the non-contact IC tags. The non-contact IC tags include a plurality of slave IC tags and a master IC tag. The master IC tag holds memory configuration information that is used when building a memory space with a memory area of the memory of each of the slave IC tags and a memory area of the memory of the master IC tag.

A protocol control integrated circuit configured by integrating, on one chip, hardware and control programs necessary for conducting data interchange through communications with portable type mediums, and used in common among various types of apparatus. Thus, the integrated circuit is constructed by integrating, on one chip, a storage section for storing a control program prepared for protocols for a plurality of digital money different in mode from each other, a processing section for controlling the handling of the plurality of digital money, different in mode, by running the control program stored in the storage section, and an interface circuit connected to an external circuit including at least one of an external processing section and an external storage section for fulfilling an interface function between the external circuit and the processing section. Further this invention is applicable to various types of transaction apparatus capable of handling, for example, digital money and credit transactions.
Abstract:
The installation method makes possible the installation of new programs, while maintaining security, in a system LSI device. The installation method comprises a step for receiving the signature data 7 of a program 6, a step for checking for interference with other already installed programs on the basis of said signature data 7, and a step for authorizing the installation of programs with which there is no interference. A declaration of signature data is elicited from a program being installed; a check for interference among programs is performed based on this, authentication is performed, and the installation of interfering programs is prevented or the installation of programs with which there is no interference is executed. It therefore becomes possible to install new programs while protecting high-security programs.

The IC card processor comprises an MPU (51) for access control on an IC (22) for holding card side security code and card information, a keyboard (58A) for input of apparatus side security code used in collation with card side security code, and a nonvolatile memory (59) for storing the apparatus side security code. The MPU (51) reads out the apparatus side security code from the nonvolatile memory (59) when referring to the card information, and issues it to the IC (22). The IC (22) collates the entered apparatus side security code and the held card side security code, and when matched, being set in accessible state from the MPU (51), the MPU (51) accesses and reads the card information, and processes it as specified.

In a system having an internal memory storing internal contents wherein an external memory for storing external contents is detachably mounted on said processing apparatus, for performing a processing according to the internal contents stored in said internal memory and the external contents stored in said external memory, a contents check method decides validity of the external contents stored in said external memory. The external contents stored in said external memory involve original check result information representative of a check result associated with validity of the external contents and original check result position information representative of a storage position of the original check result information. The external contents stored in said external memory is checked in accordance with a predetermined check algorithm to obtain a check result. The check result obtained is compared with a check result represented by the original check result information stored in a storage position indicated by the original check result position information to decide validity of the external contents stored in said external memory.

A method of communication between an adapter and a drive improves the data processing efficiency of the adapter and data transfer efficiency between the adapter and the drive. The drive has a slot to receive a disk cartridge containing a disk and drives the cartridge. The adapter is shaped to be inserted into the slot of the drive. The adapter has a controller to transfer data between the adapter and the drive through the heads thereof. The controller formats data so that the formatted data may fit into at least part of a disk format having tracks and sectors handled by the drive. The controller assigns a specific one of the tracks to the formatted data and transmits the track with the data to the drive.

There is provided an electrochromic device comprising a pair of transparent substrates facing each other, a pair of transparent electrodes facing each other between the pair of transparent substrates, and an electrochromic layer and a transparent ion conductive layer sandwiched by the pair of transparent electrodes, wherein at least the electrochromic layer and the transparent ion conductive layer are coated with a resin in a state that carrier precursor in the electrochromic layer and in the transparent ion conductive layer is ionized. As a result, film breakage of the electrochromic device and peeling off of the sealing resin and the sealing substrate are prevented, thus improving the durability of the electrochromic device.
