Abstract: Various embodiments of the present technology generally relate to localization of one or more radio frequency interference (RFI) emitters. More specifically some embodiments relate to localization of RFI emitters that interfere with Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers by integrating the location estimates of two or more localization techniques. Various embodiments may be used to more accurately estimate an interference source (e.g., an RFI emitter's location) than each localization technique separately.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide for novel compositions and methods for making and using a thermally stable human papilloma virus (HPV) formulation or other stabilized multimeric virus formulation. Certain embodiments concern lyophilizing HPV formulations in the presence or absence of adjuvants. Other embodiments concern lypophilizing HPV capsomere vaccines in order to increase stability of an immunogenic composition against HPV infection for storage, delivery and use. In yet other embodiments, a single immunogenic composition can include a thermally stable formulation of multiple virus serotypes. Yet other embodiments disclosed herein concern multi-targeted antigen complexes lyophilized in formulations of use to prolong stability and/or enhance immunogenicity. Other embodiments concern exposing lyophilized multi-targeted antigen complexes to elevated temperatures to enhance immunogenicity of the antigens of the complex to multiple pathogens.

Abstract: A grating coupler couples a waveguide to a beam and is formed of patterned shapes in a first and second layer of planar material, the shapes embedded in background material, the layers separated by less than one wavelength. The shapes are organized as a plurality of adjacent unit cells arranged along a direction of propagation of light with each unit cell including a shape of the first material and a shape of the second material, each unit cell having design parameters including a period, a width wb of the shape of first planar material, a width wt of the shape of second planar material, and an offset between the shapes. The coupler has a directivity ratio D is at least 10 dB between “up” and “down” radiation; and unit cells differ in at least one parameter selected from period, wb, wt, and offset to provide a predetermined beam shape.

Abstract: Acoustically activatable particles having low vaporization energy and methods for making and using same are disclosed. A particle of material includes a first substance that includes at least one component that is a gas 25° C. and atmospheric pressure. A second substance, different from the first substance, encapsulates the first substance to create a droplet or emulsion that is stable at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. At least some of the first substance exists in a gaseous phase at the time of encapsulation of the first substance within the second substance to form a bubble. After formation of the bubble, the bubble is condensed into a liquid phase, which causes the bubble to transform into the droplet or emulsion having a core consisting of a liquid. The droplet or emulsion is an activatable phase change agent that remains a droplet having a core consisting of a liquid at 25° C. and atmospheric pressure. The first substance has a boiling point below 25° C. at atmospheric pressure.

wherein the coagulation characteristic value of the patient that is lower than the coagulation characteristic value of the control identifies the patient as likely to require a transfusion of at least six units of blood in six hours or less.
