Abstract:
A method is provided for performing handoff in a communication system including a serving base station (BS) in communication with a mobile station (MS), at least one neighbor BS using a communication scheme different from a communication scheme of the serving BS, and the MS capable of communicating with the neighbor BS. The method includes compensating a signal strength of one of the serving BS and the neighbor BS, received at the MS, such that handoff decision is possible, and determining whether to perform a handoff of the MS, using the compensated signal strengths.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for processing a change of a preamble of a Relay Station (RS) are provided. An operating method of a Base Station (BS) includes providing a relay service via an RS, determining whether a preamble of the RS needs to change, when it is necessary to change the preamble of the RS, sending a preamble change command message to the RS and, when the preamble of the RS is changed, sending a preamble change notification message informing of the preamble change to at least one lower node of the RS.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for sending a control information for retransmission in a multihop relay wireless communication system are provided. Data received from a lower node is checked for errors. The data is transmitted to an upper node, when the data has no errors. When two or more information, which include at least one of Acknowledgement (ACK) and Negative ACK (NACK) in response to a data reception are received from one or more lower nodes, the two or more information are transmitted to the upper node at the same time. Accordingly, the RS can transmit the control information for the ARQ provided from the lower nodes, to the upper node at the same time.
Abstract:
A method for transmitting management message by a transmitting device in a communication network includes receiving a management message that is to be transmitted in the communication network. The transmitting device determines whether a feedback is required for the management message when the management message is transmitted in the communication network. The transmitting device also includes a feedback request information in a Medium Access Control (MAC) Protocol Data Unit (PDU) including a last fragment of the management message. The management message can be transmitted in one or more MAC PDUs and can be divided into one or more fragments. The transmitting device also transmits the MAC PDU indicating the feedback request information.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for generating an Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) feedback message in a wireless communication system are provided. A method for generating an ARQ feedback message at a receiving end in a wireless communication system includes, generating first ARQ feedback information of a first scheme, the first ARQ feedback information comprising information of a first erroneous ARQ block of one or more ARQ blocks for which the ARQ feedback is not performed, generating second ARQ feedback information of a second scheme indicative of error of at least one ARQ block not represented in the first ARQ feedback information, generating an ARQ feedback message comprising the first ARQ feedback information and the second ARQ feedback information, and transmitting the ARQ feedback message to a transmitting end.
Abstract:
To retain a beam direction of beamforming in a wireless communication system, an apparatus for the beamforming includes a detector for measuring change of at least one of a movement and a motion of the apparatus; and a processor for determining a beam control parameter for aligning a beam direction with a counterpart apparatus by compensating for the change of the beam direction according to at least one of the movement and the motion.
Abstract:
A wireless multi-hop relay communication system includes a terminal for transmitting an Automatic Retransmission reQuest (ARQ) block of a Media Access Control (MAC) layer in an access link, an access link relay station for determining if there is an error in the ARQ block received on the access link and for sending the ARQ block to an upper node over a relay link when the ARQ block has no error, and a base station for determining if there is an error in the ARQ block received over the relay link.
Abstract:
An upper node is provided for use in a wireless communication system using a relay scheme. The upper node includes means for transmitting, upon a request of a lower relay station for an initial connection of the lower relay station, downlink section information for communication with the lower relay station for a relay service to the lower relay station; and means for transmitting, after the initial connection with the lower relay station, frame configuration information for communication with the lower relay station for a relay service to the lower relay station through the downlink section. The downlink section information includes configuration information of the downlink section for communication with the lower relay station for a relay service.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for a Mobile Station (MS) to control a Relay Station (RS) mode of the MS in a communication system are provided. The method includes sensing a link loss with a serving Base Station (BS), searching for a neighbor BS for network reentry, transmitting to the neighbor BS an Identifier (ID) of the serving BS and an indication indicating network reentry from coverage loss caused by movement out of a service area of the serving BS are, and operating in the RS mode, upon receipt of an indication commanding switch to the RS mode from the neighbor BS, wherein the RS mode is a mode in which the MS operates as an RS.
Abstract:
An Automatic Retransmission reQuest (ARQ) data block reception apparatus and method in a communication system is provided. In the ARQ method, an ARQ feedback Information Element (IE) is transmitted to an ARQ data block transmission apparatus. The ARQ feedback IE includes a first field for indicating a Connection IDentifier (CID) of an ARQ connection, a second field for indicating the presence/absence of an additional ARQ feedback IE after the ARQ feedback IE, a third field for indicating a type of an Acknowledgement (ACK) MAP included in the ARQ feedback IE, a fourth field for indicating a Block Sequence Number (BSN) of an ARQ data block, and m ACK MAP fields. The m ACK MAP fields each include information indicating presence/absence of an additional ACK MAP field after a corresponding ACK MAP field, and an ACK MAP indicating success/failure in normal reception for each of n ARQ data blocks, wherein m and n each denote an integer greater than or equal to 1.
