Abstract: A digital broadcasting system and a data processing method are disclosed. In an aspect of the present invention, the present invention provides a data processing method including receiving a broadcast signal in which main service data and mobile service data are multiplexed, demodulating the received broadcast signal, outputting demodulation time information of a specific position of a broadcast signal frame, and acquiring reference time information contained in the mobile service data frame, setting the reference time information to a system time clock at a specific time based on the demodulation time information and decoding the mobile service data according to the system time clock.

Abstract: A digital broadcast system including a broadcast receiving system and data processing method are disclosed. In the broadcast receiving system receiving broadcast signals, the broadcast receiving system includes a transmission parameter decoding unit, a known sequence detector, and a burst controller. The transmission parameter decoding unit detects information on a burst of a received signal from broadcast data having main service data and mobile service data multiplexed therein within a field of the received signal and outputs the detected information on the burst. The known sequence detector receives burst information from the transmission parameter decoding unit and uses the received burst information and known data position information included in the received data, so as to output burst control information. The burst controller uses the burst control information to control power supply of the broadcast receiving system.

Abstract: A method of processing data in a receiving system, the method includes receiving a broadcast signal including a plurality of data groups that include broadcast data and first parity data; demodulating the received broadcast signal; performing first decoding on the broadcast data in a frame based on the first parity data for error correction, wherein the frame is formed based on the plurality of data groups in the demodulated broadcast signal and wherein the plurality of groups have a same size; and de-randomizing the first decoded broadcast data, wherein second decoding on the broadcast data in the frame is selectively performed, wherein the broadcast signal further includes signaling information that contains a transmission parameter to indicate whether second encoding was performed on the broadcast data in a transmitting system, wherein, when the transmission parameter indicates that the second encoding was performed on the broadcast data.

Abstract: A DTV transmitter includes a pre-processor pre-processing enhanced data, a data formatter generating enhanced data packets including known data, a multiplexer multiplexing the enhanced data packets with main data packets, a data randomizer randomizing the multiplexed data packets, an RS encoder RS-encoding the randomized data packets, and a data interleaver interleaving the RS-coded data packets, where a plurality of known data sequences are included in the interleaved enhanced data packets. Finally, the DTV transmitter further includes an enhanced encoder which codes each block of enhanced data placed between any two of the known data sequences and bypasses the interleaved main data packets.

Abstract: A digital broadcast system and a data processing method are disclosed. A receiving system of the digital broadcast system includes a signal receiving unit, a demodulating unit, a program table decoder, and a controller. The signal receiving unit receives a broadcast signal in which at least one parade and main service data are multiplexed, each parade including mobile service data and data of at least one section of a program table for decoding the mobile service data. The demodulating unit demodulates data of at least one parade included in the broadcast signal. The program table decoder scans at least one demodulated parade, receives each section of the program table from the scanned parade to construct a corresponding program table, and parses the constructed program table to output program table information. The controller controls decoding of the demodulated mobile service data according to the parsed program table information.

Abstract: A digital television (DTV) transmitter and a method of coding data in the DTV transmitter method are disclosed. A pre-processor pre-processes the enhanced data by coding the enhanced data for forward error correction (FEC) and expanding the FEC-coded enhanced data. A data formatter generates one or more groups of enhanced data packets, each enhanced data packet including the pre-processed enhanced data. And, a packet multiplexer generates at least one burst of enhanced data by multiplexing the one or more groups of enhanced data packets. Herein, each burst of enhanced data includes at least one group of enhanced data packets. The DTV transmitter may further include a scheduler which generates first and second control signals to control operations of the data formatter and the packet multiplexer, respectively.

Abstract: A digital television (DTV) receiving system includes an information detector, a resampler, a timing recovery unit, and a carrier recovery unit. The information detector detects a known data sequence which is periodically inserted in a digital television (DTV) signal received from a DTV transmitting system. The resampler resamples the DTV signal at a predetermined resampling rate. The timing recovery unit performs timing recovery on the DTV signal by detecting a timing error from the resampled DTV signal using the detected known data sequence. The carrier recovery unit performs carrier recovery on the resampled DTV signal by estimating a frequency offset value of the resampled DTV signal using the detected known data sequence.

Herein, a position of an audio data packet among the main service data packets of the main service data section may be re-adjusted. Also, a position of an audio data packet included in the main service data section may be re-adjusted based upon a multiplexing position of the main service data section.
