Abstract:
In a hard disk drive where data is read from and written to a magnetic disk by a magnetic head in accordance with a command from a host computer, a moving distance of the magnetic head in a radial direction is detected within a predetermined period of time. The magnetic head is moved for seeking by a predetermined distance when the moving distance detected is small. The system and method of the present invention reduces write failures due to the undulation of a lubricant film on the magnetic disk by effectively preventing undulation.
Abstract:
A steering wheel including a core metal of a ring portion also includes a soft portion and a hard portion for covering circumferential portions of the core metal. Leather is disposed on a surface of the soft portion and overlaps edges of the hard portion. Extended portions extending from the soft portion surround the core metal and are covered by the hard portion. In this manner, a user of the steering wheel may experience comfort in the feel of the leather on the soft portion as well as an aesthetically appealing hard portion.
Abstract:
A wave gear device torque detection method in which the gain of the output of each of a plurality of strain gauge sets affixed to the diaphragm of a flexible external gear is amplified and the outputs are then combined to form a detection signal. Adjusting the gain of each of the strain gauge outputs makes it possible to compensate for rotational ripple included in the output. Compensation of up to n order ripple components is possible by using at least (2n+1) strain gauges.

A decoding apparatus and data reproduction apparatus which can perform correction of 1T and 2T which inherently cannot exist as EFM signals, reduce processing of an error correction circuit, and improve the playability. Provision is made of an EPM block containing a correction portion for detecting an edge of an RF signal converted to a binary format by the PLL asymmetry correction circuit for NRZ conversion, using a clock generated in the digital PLL circuit for synchronization, detecting 1T and 2T (T is a channel clock period), which inherently cannot exist as EFM signals in format, generated at the time of synchronization, correcting the detected 1T and 2T signals to 0 or 3T in accordance with predetermined conditions to remove the 1T and 2T from the RF signal, and modulating the RF signal from which the 1T and 2T have been removed by EFM and a demodulation circuit for demodulating by EFM a signal after modulation by EFM.
Abstract:
An apparatus for manufacturing an electrode plate of a nonaqueous secondary battery comprises means for moving a sheet conductive base material in a first direction, a die nozzle for injecting an electrode material composition onto the sheet conductive base material, a pump disposed in supplying pipes, a valve disposed at the pipes between the pump and the die nozzle, a suction system disposed at the pipes between the valve and the die nozzle, and means for drying the electrode material composition. To form uncoated areas, either the die nozzle or sheet conductive base material may be configured to move in a direction substantially perpendicular to one another, or the die nozzle may be configured to move along the first direction. Additionally a coated amount of the electrode material composition per unit area along the first direction may be continuously increased or decreased.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing an electrode plate of a nonaqueous electrolyte battery comprises the steps of: running a sheet conductive base material in a first direction; and injecting an electrode material composition containing an electrolyte from a die nozzle onto a first surface of the running sheet conductive base material to form uncoated areas at predetermined intervals on the first surface along the first direction. The electrode material composition may be applied in different amounts per unit area between first and second areas of the sheet conductive base material. Preferably, the coated amount is continuously increased or decreased along the first direction.
Abstract:
A cup-shaped flexible external gear 3 of a flexed meshing type gear drive 1 is flexed into an elliptical shape by a wave generator 4. A first torque detection device 6 is disposed on a portion of the external gear 3, for example, on a diaphragm 33 thereof which has a pair of torque detection elements arranged at an angular interval of 90° around a center axis 1a. Likewise, a second torque detection device 7 is also disposed, which has a pair of torque detection elements arranged at an angular interval of 90°. The first and second torque detection devices 6, 7 are arranged at an angular interval of (k×45°) around the center axis 1a with each other. A torque detection mechanism of this invention synthesizes outputs of the two torque detection devices 6, 7, thereby realizing a high accurate torque detection with quite few effect of rotational ripple and with high linearity.

Abstract:
An optical disk player is provided which includes a disk driving unit for driving an optical disk, a traverse count circuit for counting the number of recording tracks on the optical disk traversed by an optical pickup, an angle detection circuit for detecting the rotational angle through which the optical disk is rotated, and a stop control unit supplied with a count output from the traverse counting unit and a detection output from the angle detection unit. The stop control unit checks to see if the count value by the traverse count unit during rotation by a predetermined angle of the optical disk by the disk driving unit reaches a predetermined number of tracks corresponding to an allowable offset. The stop control unit halts the driving of the optical disk if the count value reaches the aforementioned predetermined number of tracks.
