Abstract:
The present invention is directed to systems and methods for providing exercise devices with motivational programming. The programming includes motivational content and control signals, synchronized with the motivational content, for controlling operation of the exercise device. The motivational content includes audio and/or video designed to simulate a group exercise setting and optionally instructional and educational content for the benefit of a user. The control signals can be carried in wireless carrier signals and can include bytes of data that define changes to the value of one or more operating parameters of an exercise device. The control signals can control one or more operating parameters of one or more exercise devices, whether at once, or device specific.
Abstract:
A ski exercising apparatus has a set of two parallel, arcuate rails, a wheeled carriage riding on the rails, a set of two articulated footpads mounted side-by-side on the wheeled carriage; and two sets of powerbands arranged parallel with a lengthwise centerline of the apparatus, spaced apart by at least one-half of the width of the apparatus.
Abstract:
A leg movement stimulator device for use while sitting. Other embodiments of leg movement stimulator device include leg gliding mechanism (12) to allow simple exercise for user while simultaneously performing other sedentary activities, and extension function (13) for width adjustment, and a diversified movement mechanism (22), (22a) for joints and small muscles stimulation, and data generating and communicating mechanism (30), (30a), (31), (33) with user's smart electronic devices is also available for user's convenience in tracking and monitoring the movement activities. Other embodiments include chair fixing mechanism (14), (14a) to hold the device from moving, and stepper mechanism (11a), (11b), (22a′), (22b) and varied track direction (12c) for diverse exercise of the user.
Abstract:
A hockey training device is provided. The training device includes a substantially flat sheet with a smooth upper surface. The present invention includes a plurality of elastic band suspended to the upper surface. A first vertical post and a second vertical post may be attached to the flat sheet so that the elastic band is secured about the first and second vertical posts. The elastic band includes a front surface facing towards a center portion of the flat sheet. Therefore, a puck may be passed towards the elastic band and the elastic band rebounds the puck towards the user. The device may be used to train both backhand and forehand shooting and pucks skills. Further, the device may be used to train a sliding skating motion in a skating training mode.
Abstract:
An exercise machine ergonomic handle system for providing hand-holds for the performance of exercises with reduced flexion and/or extension of the hand and wrist and reduced ulnar and/or radial deviation so as to reduce injury and allow application of full strength to the exercise machine. The exercise machine ergonomic handle system generally includes a longitudinally extending frame, a carriage that moves upon a first longitudinal portion of the frame, and at least one pair of ergonomic handles positioned on a second longitudinal portion of the frame. The ergonomic handles rotate about an axis to prevent flexion and/or extension, and can be positioned at a width and/or angle that reduces ulnar and/or radial deviation.
Abstract:
An articulating joint exercise apparatus is provided having a portable structural frame, a slide, a body-engaging mounting fixture, and a brake. The slide has a friction-reducing bearing surface configured for movement along the rail extending between a range corresponding with extension and retraction of a user limb and associated user joint that exceeds an end range for a user under rehabilitation corresponding with hyperextension and hyperflexion. The body-engaging mounting fixture is affixed for articulation to the slide and is configured to attach to a user limb of a user joint. The brake is carried by the slide and is configured to be actuated by a user to affix the slide and body-engaging mounting fixture at one of an anatomically limited terminal range with a static stretch of a user joint when a limb of a user joint is affixed to the mounting fixture. A method is also provided.
Abstract:
A system for assisting a user in strength training with a strength training device comprises a torque source. One or more magnetorheological (MR) fluid clutch apparatuses has an input coupled to torque source to receive torque from the torque source, the MR fluid clutch apparatus controllable to transmit a variable amount of torque via an output thereof. A modulation inter face couples the output of the at least one MR fluid clutch apparatus to a force transmission of the training device. One or more sensors provide information indicative of a training action by the user. A training processor comprises a training effort calculator module for receiving the information indicative of the training action and for characterizing the training action, a training assistance controller module for determining a level of force assistance from the characterizing of the training action, and an assistance generator module for controlling the at least one MR fluid clutch apparatus in exerting the force assistance at said level on the force transmission of the training device to assist the user in the training action. A method for assisting a user in strength training with a MR fluid clutch apparatus is also provided.
Abstract:
An exercise apparatus includes a base frame, a swing unit including a pair of swing arms pivotally mounted at the base frame, a pedal unit pivotally mounted at the swing unit, a travel path constraining unit including a pivot axle pivotally connected to the base frame, a pair of upper crank arms respectively affixed to two opposite ends of the pivot axle in reverse directions and a pair of links respectively pivotally connected between the upper crank arms and the swing arms for limiting the swinging range of the swing unit, a first damping unit for providing a damping resistance to the pedal unit, and a second damping unit for providing a damping resistance to the swing arms.
Abstract:
An elliptical trainer with variable stride includes a base frame, a swing unit axially mounted at the base frame, a pedal unit axially mounted at the swing unit, a damping unit for providing damping resistance to the swing unit, and a constraining unit including an axle axially mounted at the base frame, a pair of upper cranks respectively affixed to two opposite ends of the axle and a pair of coupling members respectively pivotally coupled between the upper cranks and the swing unit. Mating the constraining unit with the swing unit prevents the swing unit from overswinging, enhancing user safety.
Abstract:
