Abstract: Improved systems and techniques are disclosed for controlling the security states of anti-theft security systems such as product display assemblies using security fobs. The tasks relating to fob authentication are offloaded to a computer system, and these authentications can be based on identifiers for the different security fobs. The interactions between security fobs and product display assemblies can be consistent regardless of the population of authorized security fobs by using a security code that is shared by the security fobs. When attempting to use a security fob to change a security status for a product display assembly, the provision of the code to the subject product display assembly can be predicated on authorization of the subject security fob by the computer system. The computer system can maintain a list of identifiers for authorized security fobs that is easily updated when new security fobs are added to or existing security fobs are de-authorized from the system.

Abstract: A radio device, comprising an application scheduling unit configured to initiate a transmission of application output data in communication with a radio access network in accordance with a predetermined application transmission schedule determining at least one allowed time, which is a time span or a point in time, for the communication of the application output data. The allowed time depends on a parameter value of a set of at least one parameter that is allocated to the radio device and that is suitable for distinguishing the radio device from at least one other radio device of a group of radio devices to which the radio device belongs. A communication unit is configured to transmit the application output data in communication with the radio access network in the form of radio signals and at a time that is in accordance with the predetermined transmission schedule.

Abstract: Methods and systems for associating or pairing a mobile device with a local output device via a central or mobile connect server system are provided. Pairing is performed by initiating a pairing request from an output device that is passed to the mobile connect server for processing. The mobile connect server responds to the request with a pairing code that is displayed by the output device. A user of the mobile device then enters the displayed pairing code in the mobile device. The mobile device transmits the entered pairing code to the mobile connect server and, in response to a match, the mobile device is paired to the output device. Pairing can enable various functions, including an ability to apply stored user preference data to control programming or other information displayed by the output device in response to commands entered in the mobile device.

Abstract: A method and system for applying over the air updates to a universal remote control device. The method and system include determining a group associated with the universal remote control based on a remote profile stored on at least one of: a memory of the universal remote control device, and a universal remote database hosted on an external server infrastructure. The method and system also include determining an over the air update that is applicable to the universal remote control device based on the group that is associated with the universal remote control device. The method and system additionally include determining a power level of a battery of the universal remote control device. The method and system further include applying the over the air update that is applicable to the universal remote control device based on the power level of the battery of the universal remote control device.

Abstract: A system and method whereby an user interface editing device is used to create a user interface for a controlling device, the created user interface including user interface elements that are associated with functional operations of a virtual equivalent of an appliance. After the created user interface is transferred to the controlling device, the virtual equivalent of an appliance is caused to be linked to an intended target appliance whereupon activation of those user interface elements of the graphical user interface that were associated with functional operations of the virtual equivalent of an appliance will cause the controlling device to transmit commands to control corresponding functional operations of the intended target appliance.
