Abstract:
In an image communication apparatus for communicating a color image with a distant apparatus according to the ITU-T recommendations upon line connection, an original image is read by a scanner unit, and the size of the read original image is identified. If the identified size of the original image is smaller than the page size defined by the ITU-U recommendation, image data is generated by reading the original image upon adding invalid data to the original image to make it have a main scanning length equal to the main scanning length of the minimum page size defined by the ITU-T recommendation in reading the original image through the scanner unit, and the image data is compressed by a JPEG compressing unit and transmitted. In this case, the valid image area of the compressed data is set in accordance with the size of the original image. This allows the receiving side to read only the valid image area, decode the valid image area, and reproduce the image.
Abstract:
An image transmission device and image reception device capable of quickly displaying zoomed images, even in a system using low-bitrate wireless transmission devices. The image transmission device includes a camera section that captures images, a transmission/reception section that transmits an image captured by the camera section to an image reception device, and an image processing section that performs image processing by changing the image compression ratio such that the time for transmission of images to the image reception device is substantially constant. By changing the image compression ratio such that the image transmission time is substantially constant, zoomed images can be displayed quickly on the image reception device, even in a system using low-bitrate wireless transmission devices.
Abstract:
In a photographic printing system, image data of an image plane size (ishot L, nullxnullnully) smaller than a print size (xnully) of a printer is transmitted from a portable telephone to the printer on an infrared communication basis. The transmitted image data is subjected to an expansion processing with expansion magnifications of 1.4 times to 1.8 times, and then converted to print data suitable for printing of the printer. A latent image is recorded on a recording medium in accordance with the print data. The recording medium is delivered out of the printer while it is developed. When a VGA size of image data is transmitted, the image data is directly printed out. When 1 mega size image data is transmitted, the image data is converted into image data of the number of pixels of the VGA size and then printed out.
Abstract:
To detect facsimile calls that are initiated manually by a user, a method is used that utilizes the detection of a called (CED) tone generated by a receiving facsimile machine. The detection is performed by a signal processor. Once the detection is made, the facsimile call is transmitted using an appropriate protocol.
Abstract:
In an image storing method for storing image signals, which represent images, in a storage device, a plurality of image signals, which represent a single image and have been subjected to different processes with respect to at least both of resolution altering processing and image processing, are stored in the storage device. In a network comprising a plurality of image output devices having different levels of image displaying quality according to purposes for which the displayed images are used, the image signals having been read from the storage device are capable of being quickly transferred or outputted according to purposes for which the displayed images are used.
Abstract:
A facsimile apparatus is disclosed that performs accurate and efficient facsimile transmission while obtaining accurate reception capacity information of each transmission destination. The reception capacity of each transmission destination is stored, together with the mail address, in a memory unit of the apparatus. When facsimile transmission accompanied by a delivery confirmation request is carried out, a main controlling unit causes the memory unit to store the transmission mode. If delivery confirmation mail from the transmission destination contains reception capacity information, the main controlling unit causes the memory unit to store it as the reception capacity information of the transmission destination. If the delivery confirmation mail does not contain reception capacity information but confirms that the communication has been properly completed, the transmission mode already stored in the memory unit is stored as a transmission enabling mode of the transmission destination in the memory unit.
Abstract:
A printer controller and system that include a descriptor storing device which stores descriptor information, an image memory which stores at least one of encoded image data and non-encoded image data, a decoding device which decodes encoded image data, a first data path which transmits the encoded image data stored in the image memory to an external device via the decoding device, and a second data path which transmits the non-encoded image data stored in the image memory to the external device. The printer controller and system further include a direct memory access (DMA) control device that controls the image data stored in the image memory so as to be transmitted via one of the first data path and the second data path according to the descriptor information stored in the descriptor storing device.
Abstract:
An image processing system includes a transmission-side apparatus that transmits image data and a reception-side apparatus that receives and visualizes the image data. In the transmission-side apparatus, a data generator generates an image data, a first converter subjects the image data to a first conversion to thereby generate a first image data, a second converter subjects the first image data to a second conversion to thereby generate a second image data, a subtractor subtracts the second image data from the image data to thereby generate a third image data, a compressor compresses the third image data to thereby generate compressed image data, and an embedding unit embeds the compressed image data in the first image data.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates to a technique for automatically selecting compression/non-compression for each digital document upon archiving digital documents. Whether or not each digital document is to be stored in a compressed or non-compressed state is determined based on a predetermined reference. A digital document which is determined to be stored in a compressed state is controlled to be stored in the compressed state, and a digital document which is determined to be stored in a non-compressed state is controlled to be stored in the non-compressed state, thus generating an archive file. This disclosure relates to a technique for determining whether or not each digital document is to be uploaded to a server, and generating an archive file that stores abstract data of uploaded digital documents, and digital documents which are not uploaded, upon archiving digital documents.
Abstract:
Provided is a digital camera in which a memory card is inserted and image files are stored on the memory card. When a recording capacity of the memory card is insufficient, image files already stored in the memory card are recompressed at a relatively higher compression rate at the request of a user.
