摘要: A method of repairing a defect in a damaged rail of a railroad track comprises positioning a rail profiling device on the rails of the railroad track proximate a defect; securing the rail profiling device to the railroad; adjusting its grinder according to a selected value of wheel cone angle to create a profiled running surface over a portion of the damaged rail; creating a median zone using the grinder to remove material from the damaged rail adjacent the defect at a depth corresponding to at least a maximum depth of the defect; creating an incline from the top of the rail and leading to the median zone and one incline leaving the median zone to the top of the rail by using the grinder to grinding material off the damaged rail.

摘要: This invention relates to methods and materials for slip ring grinding of a generator rotor, without the need of dismounting the slip ring from the rotor of the generator, and allowing the grinding process to be performed whilst the generator is on full-load operation. As such the methods and materials of the present invention differs from current solution. Whilst allowing on-line grinding of the slip ring, the current solutions require low-speed rotations and accordingly operational shutdown of the generator. Allowing on-load grinding, the present invention greatly shortens the downtime of the generator and to perform maintenance on the slip ring beyond the provided standard maintenance schedule.

摘要: A spindle reconditioning system includes an axle that is mounted on a vehicle. The axle has a spindle and the spindle has a distal end with respect to the axle and a bearing surface. A mount is provided and the mount slidably receives the spindle and engages the distal end of the spindle. Thus, the mount is oriented co-linear with a line extending through the distal end of the spindle and the axle. A grinding unit is movably coupled to the mount and the grinding unit is aligned with the bearing surface on the spindle when the mount is positioned on the spindle. The grinding unit abrades the bearing surface for reconditioning the bearing surface when damage on the bearing surface has been repaired thereby eliminating the need to replace the spindle when the spindle is damaged.

摘要: A method for preparing a polymer insulated cable including a semiconductive layer surrounding a polymeric insulation layer includes: cutting the semiconductive layer by grinding a circumferential dividing groove in the semiconductive layer using a rotating grinding surface, wherein the dividing groove defines first and second semiconductive sections of the semiconductive layer on opposed sides of the dividing groove; and thereafter removing the second semiconductive section from the polymeric insulation layer while retaining the first semiconductive section on the polymeric insulation layer.
