    摘要: A tool for performing work on a workpiece, such as a pipe, includes a mandrel assembly configured to secure to an interior portion of the pipe. The mandrel assembly includes an arm assembly configured to retain a cutting apparatus so as to be positioned at an outside portion of the pipe and to allow the cutting apparatus to revolve around the circumference of the pipe to perform work on the pipe. The mandrel assembly includes a hub and a plurality of jaws that allow it to secure to the interior of the pipe while the arm assembly props the cutting apparatus in a position to facilitate performing work on the pipe around the entire circumference of a section of the pipe. The engagement between the mandrel assembly and the pipe supports the weight of the tool, providing ease of use and improved control for pipe cutting operations.

    摘要: A split frame lathe having improved locking, cutting and adjustment capabilities is disclosed. The split frame lathe includes an embodiment having a plurality of internal bearing systems where each internal bearing system includes an eccentric bushing, a bearing pin and a v-bearing. Another embodiment of the split frame lathe may include adjustable leg systems. The split frame lathe may also include a star gear connected to a gear ring where the star gear can be rotated in a first direction and, alternatively, in an opposite second direction. In another embodiment the split frame lathe includes a trip system to prevent damage to the lathe and harm to the operator. The split frame lathe may also include improved locking mechanisms for the gear and base ring and a hinge system. The split frame lathe also may include a counter bore and flange facer attachment.

In embodiments, a pipe is cut by maneuvering the pipe tool proximate an open end of a pipe, moving the gripper into the pipe; extending the grip to engage an interior wall of the pipe and secure the pipe tool from movement relative to the pipe; advancing the exposed face to a predetermined position relative to the pipe; axially advancing the cutter to engage an outer wall of the pipe; and rotating the housing until the cutters perform the desired cutting operation on the pipe.

In a preferred embodiment, the milling head includes at least three different cutting or milling surfaces each capable of performing a distinct operation on a workpiece. In one embodiment, the milling head includes a) a membrane milling and/or outer diameter tube film removal element; b) a beveling element capable of imparting a bevel to the tube end; and c) an inner diameter tube film removal element. The milling head milling surfaces are adjustable in order to accommodate tubes of different wall thicknesses and diameters.
