摘要: Methods and apparatus for improving the resolution of an electronic imaging device having an array of pixels. Sub-pixel dimension movements between an object and the array of pixels are made, and an image is formed at each position. Resulting shifted images are combined to yield an effective resolution corresponding to an array having smaller pixels. Such methods and apparatus allow optical systems with existing pixel devices to form effective images of smaller feature sizes.

摘要: This invention provides a method for enhancing the luminance and uniformity of a flag panel light source and the light source thereof. It provides a patterned reflective structure to reflect or deflect the light back onto the display area and lighten the area which used to be blocked by spacers. The patterned reflective structure may be designed in several places, such as between an end surface of a spacer and the inner surface of an anode substrate, or on the inner surface of the edges of the side-frame between the anode plate and the cathode plate by further coating a reflective material, or on the side-frames surrounding the panel by further coating a reflective material, etc. With such a patterned reflective structure, this invention enhances the luminance and uniformity of a flat panel light source. The present invention can be applied to field emission displays.

摘要: A color image capture element comprises a plurality of color component photoelectric conversion elements, each disposed with a color filter on a light receiving surface for respectively transmitting different color components, for receiving incoming light and selectively outputting respective color signals corresponding to the intensity of the different color components, and an infrared component photoelectric conversion element, disposed with an infrared transmitting filter on a light receiving surface for transmitting an infrared component, for selectively outputting an infrared signal. This enables the infrared component included in at least one of a plurality of color signals to be corrected, thereby improving the sensitivity of a color image capture apparatus.

摘要: A plasma absorption wave limiter is disclosed. The plasma absorption wave limiter comprises a limiting layer and a trigger layer. The limiting layer is transmissive in a pass band of a sensor and capable of generating a reflective and absorptive free electron plasma that will propagate and dissipate therein. The trigger layer is located aft of and in contact with the limiting layer and is capable of residually absorbing incident radiation and initiating the thermal plasma wave in the limiting layer responsive to a threat.

The first major face (5) comprises a material (for example, a prismatic film) having coefficients of reflection and transmission that vary with the angle at which light is incident on the material. The second major face (6) comprises a narrow-scattering reflective material having a reflectance of at least 85%, for example a highly-efficient reflective material provided with a suitable textured pattern.

摘要: An unsealed optical encoder does not function properly in a fluid other than air because the optics do not function when interfaced with a medium having an index of refraction significantly higher than air. The collimating lens of an optical encoder has two refracting surfaces, at least one of the refracting surfaces being convex. An orthogonal cap of the present invention is attached over an optical encoder's collimating lens to create a sealed air cavity between the convex refracting surface of the collimating lens and the orthogonal cap. This placement of the orthogonal cap is such that the collimated light leaving the sealed air cavity may enter the surrounding medium at an angle that is normal to the surface of the medium, such as transparent oil, so that the collimated light does not bend even though the light is traveling from air to a much slower medium.
