摘要: There is provided a method for producing hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose phthalate (HPMCP), including an esterification step of reacting hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose with a carboxybenzoylating agent in the presence of an aliphatic carboxylic acid in a kneader reactor equipped with two or more stirring blades rotating around their own axes and orbitally revolving, to obtain a reaction product solution containing HPMCP; a precipitation step of precipitating the HPMCP by mixing the reaction product solution with water to obtain a suspension of the precipitated HPMCP; and a washing and recovery step of washing the HPMCP in the suspension and recovering the washed HPMCP. Further, there is provided HPMCP having yellowness at 20° C. of 10.0 or less, as determined in a 10% by mass solution of the HPMCP in acetone.

摘要: There is provided a method for producing hypromellose acetate succinate (HPMCAS), the method not requiring any special device and facilitating removal of impurities. More specifically, there is provided a method for producing HPMCAS, including an esterification step of esterifying hypromellose with an acetylating agent and a succinoylating agent in the presence of an aliphatic carboxylic acid to obtain a reaction product solution containing HPMCAS; a precipitation step of precipitating the HPMCAS by mixing the reaction product solution with water to obtain a suspension of the precipitated HPMCAS; a neutralization step of neutralizing the suspension with a basic substance to obtain a neutralized suspension; and a washing step of washing the HPMCAS contained in the neutralized suspension to obtain the washed HPMCAS.

摘要: An injection molded article comprising a thin-walled body portion formed from a polymer-based resin derived from cellulose, wherein the thin-walled body portion comprises: i. a gate position; ii. a last fill position; iii. a flow length to wall thickness ratio greater than or equal to 100, wherein the flow length is measured from the gate position to the last fill position; and iv. a wall thickness less than or equal to about 2 mm; and wherein the polymer-based resin has an HDT or at least 95° C., a bio-derived content of at least 20 wt %, and a spiral flow length of at least 3.0 cm, when the polymer-based resin is molded with a spiral flow mold with the conditions of a barrel temperature of 238° C., a melt temperature of 246° C., a molding pressure of 13.8 MPa, a mold thickness of 0.8 mm, and a mold width of 12.7 mm.

Optical films prepared employing such cellulose esters have a variety of commercial applications, such as, for example, as compensation films in liquid crystal displays and/or waveplates in creating circular polarized light used in 3-D technology.

摘要: Methods for the cross-metathesis of polysaccharides with one or more olefin-terminated side chains and cross-metathesized products are described. In an exemplary embodiment, a method for the synthesis of cellulose ω-carboxyesters via olefin cross-metathesis is described. Conditions of the reactions were relatively mild and the olefin-substituted polysaccharides and the appropriate monomeric olefin partners appear to follow Grubbs rules as summarized herein. The compounds and methods may be useful for structure-property studies, particularly those aimed at developing polymers for drug delivery, such as for controlled-release drug delivery systems, controlled-release coatings, increasing bioavailability of drugs, and maintaining drug supersaturation in the GI tract.
