摘要： A method of compensating for image quality of an inkjet printer includes selecting one of combinations of a plurality of shingling modes controlling shingling characteristics of image data and a plurality of printed data generating modes, which are set separately from the shingling modes, controlling other characteristics of image data except the shingling characteristics. Therefore, deterioration of the image quality due to a defective nozzle can be compensated without replacing an ink cartridge.

摘要： Selective edge softening and selective edge dithering is introduced into an image representation to improve local control where halo problems are expected. Selective areas of dilation are isolated and separately dithered or halftoned, the result of which is then swapped back into or substituted for the stored original image. In this manner misregistration and color plane-to-plane interactions can be compensated for in plural image forming station architecture systems. The same technique is also valuable in monochrome systems as an aid to overcoming edge displacement and slow toner problems when the selective edge softening is selectively applied to edges which are in particular perpendicular to the fast scan direction.

An imposition apparatus is connected to the storage memory to receive the digital representation and arrange the digital representation in accordance with a desired plate layout, thereby to define a plate image. A press set-up device extracts from the plate image the color characteristic and provides ink flow set-up data to a printing press in accordance with the extracted color characteristic.

摘要： A method is provided for rendering a color image with a plurality of separations with a halftone process using a single screen for a plurality of separations. The screen is comprised of a plurality of pixel locations with associated threshold values and the image is comprised of a plurality of separation values. The method includes the steps of rendering a first one of the plurality of separations in accordance with the screen, wherein the plurality of pixel locations are turned on or off at a given pixel location based on a comparison of the image separation value at that pixel with the screen threshold value. The rendering of the next color separation is made in accordance with the rendering of the first separation and the screen, wherein for constant image separation values, pixel locations are turned on for the separation at pixel locations disposed in a highest available luminance region having a lowest available threshold value.

摘要： An ink jet recording apparatus and ink jet recording method record using different kinds of ink each having the same series color and a different density. The jet recording apparatus includes a converting unit for converting an input image density signal into an output image density signal, a binary unit for converting the output image density signal into binary data, an inverting unit for inverting the binary data, and a distributing unit for the binary data inverted and binary data to be inverted to drive data for an ink discharge unit and drive data for another ink discharge unit. Density unevenness and texture which arise from an image process, particularly a binary process, can be prevented. Different kinds of ink, each of which has the same series color and a different density, are respectively scanned so as not to overlap on the same pixel. Density unevenness due to ink soaking can be suppressed because different kinds of ink each having the same series color and a different density are not shot at the same position.
