Abstract: A magnetic battery cell connection mechanism includes a first battery cell and a second battery cell. A first connector has a first body including a first electrical pathway. A first electrical contact is disposed on the first body and electrically connected to the first electrical pathway. A first magnet is connected to the first body, the first magnet being adapted to magnetically releasably secure the first body to a positive terminal of the first battery cell. Abstract: The invention is directed towards a battery. The battery includes a cathode, an anode, a separator between the cathode and the anode, and an electrolyte. The cathode includes a conductive additive and an electrochemically active cathode material. The electrochemically active cathode material includes a beta-delithiated layered nickel oxide. The beta-delithiated layered nickel oxide has a chemical formula. The chemical formula is LixAyNi1+a−zMzO2.nH2O where x is from about 0.02 to about 0.20; y is from about 0.03 to about 0.20; a is from about 0 to about 0.2; z is from about 0 to about 0.2; and n is from about 0 to about 1. Within the chemical formula, A is an alkali metal. The alkali metal includes potassium, rubidium, cesium, and any combination thereof. Within the chemical formula, M comprises an alkaline earth metal, a transition metal, a non-transition metal, and any combination thereof. The anode includes an electrochemically active anode material. The electrochemically active anode material includes zinc, zinc alloy, and any combination thereof.

Some embodiments include searching for a first wireless signal that identifies the energy storage device and, in response to receiving the first wireless signal, determining a current charge level of the energy storage device. Some embodiments include receiving a second wireless signal from the energy storage device, determining from the second wireless signal, whether the current charge level of the energy storage device reaches a predetermined threshold, and in response to determining that the current charge level of the energy storage device reaches the predetermined threshold, facilitating replacement of the battery.

Abstract: A portable power bank for charging a mobile computing device is described, and a dynamic charging efficiency is monitored while the power bank is charging the mobile computing device. Particularly, instantaneous power output of a battery of the power bank is compared to power received by a battery of the mobile computing device to determine efficiency. The charging of the mobile computing device by the power bank is interrupted and/or resumed based upon the charging efficiency at any given time, thereby preventing inefficient use of the power bank.

Abstract: A portable power bank and mobile computing device are described, where the mobile computing device includes a rechargeable battery that receives electric charge from the power bank via an electrical connection. Systems and methods facilitate determination of a “number of potential rechargings” of the mobile computing device battery via the power bank, e.g., how many times the power bank can charge the mobile computing device battery to a desired fuel gauge (e.g., 100%) before the power bank is depleted. The number of potential rechargings is determined based upon the desired fuel gauge of the mobile computing device, present fuel gauges of the mobile computing device and the power bank, and charging efficiency factors corresponding to the mobile computing device and the power bank, respectively.

The removable tab includes a first tab end and an oppositely disposed second tab end; a gripping region disposed adjacent to the first tab end; and a battery cell attachment region disposed adjacent to the second tab end and attached to the top surface of the battery. The battery cell attachment region has first and second oppositely disposed sidewalls, wherein at least one of the first and second sidewalls is curved inwardly away from the circumferential edge of the battery such that a portion of the top surface of the battery is exposed between the sidewall and the circumferential edge of the battery.

The X-ray diffraction pattern of the beta-delithiated layered nickel oxide includes a first peak from about 14.9° 2θ to about 16.0° 2θ; a second peak from about 21.3° 2θ to about 22.7° 2θ; a third peak from about 37.1° 2θ to about 37.4° 2θ; a fourth peak from about 43.2° 2θ to about 44.0° 2θ; a fifth peak from about 59.6° 2θ to about 60.6° 2θ; and a sixth peak from about 65.4° 2θ to about 65.9° 2θ.
