Abstract:
A patient monitoring system in cooperation with IMDs provides information, direction and counseling to patients. Specifically, a combination of lifestyle parameters, such as, for example, diet, exercise, weight, medication and environmental factors such as, for example, temperature, UV factor, pollen count, humidity, air pollution index, are integrated to provide a seamless, comprehensive, chronic monitoring system and support for patients. The system includes a home monitor, IMD, and a remote expert station in operable data communications therebetween. Personal data such as weight, environmental data, food data from refrigerators and pantry, type of exercise equipment, medication, physiologically significant events, physician treatment plan and the like are integrated with IMD data to provide continuous patient care, counseling, consultation and notification. The remote expert station enables doctors and other health care providers to review, monitor current and long-term trends of the patient's health status and dispense clinical care as needed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides mice having reduced CAR receptor activity and mice expressing a human CAR receptor. These mice are useful in screening methods to identify compounds that modulate CAR receptor activity, compounds likely to have CAR-mediated toxicity, and analogs of these compounds with less potential toxicity.

Abstract:
The disclosure is directed to a computational system including a processor, cache memory accessible to the processor, and a memory management unit accessible to the processor. The processor is configured to access a virtual memory space to perform a first task and is configured to access the virtual memory space to perform a second task. The virtual memory space references first and second sets of task instructions associated with the first and second tasks, respectively. The virtual memory space references non-instruction data associated with the first task. The cache memory is configured to store the first set of task instructions and the non-instruction data. The memory management unit is configured to determine the physical memory location of the second set of task instructions. The computational system is configured to not write the first set of task instructions and the non-instruction data to a physical location beyond the cache memory.
Abstract:
An automated telephone dialing system. The system enables a handheld PID to automatically dial a telephone number stored its memory by interacting with a telephone. The telephone is equipped with a wireless port for short-range wireless data transfer. Similarly, the PID is equipped with a wireless port for short-range wireless data transfer. The PID establishes a wireless communication with the telephone. The PID is configured to control the telephone via the wireless communications such that the telephone dials a telephone number stored on the PID. The telephone number can be dialed in response to the user interacting with application executing on the PID. The application can be a contact management or address management program. The user can interact with the program, select a contact, address, phone number, or the like, through a GUI of the PID, and have this number automatically dialed by the telephone. In this manner, the user's PID seamlessly interacts with the user's telephone to dial numbers and establish phone calls without requiring the user to access controls of the telephone. The wireless communication between the PID and the telephone can be compatible with a version of the Bluetooth specification. The wireless communication between the PID and the telephone can also be compatible with a version of the IrDA specification.
Abstract:
The subject invention comprises a cornbread dressing and a method for making the cornbread dressing having the steps of: combining a cornbread mix with ingredients, including: eggs, milk, soup, seasonings and vegetables; blending and baking for a short period of time; and stirring the mixture and baking again, to result in a tasty cornbread dressing with acceptable integrity, and texture.
Abstract:
A tamp assembly for use in configuring bone cavity filler material within a bone cavity, in preparation for receiving an implant, includes a distal tamp portion which has a substantially constant cross-section over at least part of its length. A proximal tamp portion has a through bore extending through it with a size which is such that the proximal tamp portion is a sliding fit over the distal tamp portion. The proximal tamp portion has an exterior tamping surface extending from the through bore which faces generally towards the distal tamp portion. The assembly includes a hammer for transmitting impact to the bone cavity filler material which is contacted by the tamping surface of the proximal tamp portion.
Abstract:
A case for a handheld computer system is described. In an embodiment, the handheld computer system comprises a personal digital assistant. The case has multi-functional capability. The case provides a protective housing for the personal digital assistant and includes a communication module which is integrated into the case for protection against damage, whereas the communication module transmits and receives data for the personal digital assistant. In an embodiment, the communication module comprises a radio frequency (RF) wireless communication device. In an embodiment, the case includes a connector which couples to a communication port located on the back of the personal digital assistant, whereas the connector couples to the personal digital assistant inserted inside the case. In an embodiment, the connector comprises a latching connector which electrically couples to the communication port and which couples to the personal digital assistant. In an embodiment, the latching connector couples to the back cover of the case such that the latching connector can be rotated about a pivot axis to a latched position and to an unlatched position. When the latching connector is rotated to the latched position, the latching connector latches to the back cover and couples (electrically and physically) to the personal digital assistant inserted inside the case. When the latching connector is rotated to the unlatched position, the latching connector unlatches from the back cover, uncouples (electrically and physically) from the personal digital assistant, and rotates through an opening in the back cover to a position outside the case.
Abstract:
A voltage detector circuit (10) for detecting voltage levels of a digital data bitstream has an input terminal (20) coupled to receive the digital data bitstream. A first peak detector circuit (40) coupled to the input terminal detects a positive peak voltage, and provides a first peak signal. A first differential amplifier is coupled to the input terminal and further coupled to receive the first peak signal, for providing a first difference signal. A second peak detector circuit is coupled to receive the first difference signal from the first differential amplifier, for detecting a peak voltage in the first difference signal and for providing a second peak signal. The first peak signal indicates the value of logical 1 levels in the bitstream, and the second peak signal indicates the relative value of logical 0 levels in the bitstream with respect to the logical 1 levels.
