Abstract: A video communications method includes segmenting an image frame or an image frame portion into first and second source network packet blocks. The first source network packet block includes a first number of source network packets and the second network packet block includes a second number of source network packets. The method further includes encoding the first source network packet block to produce a first encoded network packet block and encoding the second source network packet block to produce a second encoded network packet block. The first encoded network packet block includes a first number of encoded network packets and the second encoded network packet block includes a second number of encoded network packets. Still further, the method includes transmitting the first and second encoded network packet blocks over a wireless network. A wireless device and a vehicle may utilize the video communications method.

Abstract: A system for determining and executing an autonomous-vehicle vehicle travel route, including a hardware-based processing unit and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium. The storage medium includes an input-interface module that, when executed by the hardware-based processing unit, obtains factor data indicating factors relevant to determining a vehicle travel route. The storage medium also includes a route-generation module comprising a route-complexity sub-module. The route-complexity sub-module determines, based on the factor data, route-complexity indexes corresponding to respective optional routes. The route-generation module determines the vehicle travel route based on the route-complexity indexes. The storage in various embodiments includes other sub-modules associated with other elements, such as autonomous-driving safety, comfort, stress, pollution, scenery, or infrastructure-accessibility, for determining and executing an autonomous-driving travel route. In some embodiments, the storage includes an autonomous-driving perceptions module and an autonomous-driving control module for modifying vehicle functions in executing the autonomous-driving travel route.

Abstract: A system and method for operating a first vehicle hotspot at a vehicle. The first vehicle hotspot operates to provide wireless connectivity for one or more wireless devices located in the vehicle or within a proximity of the vehicle. The method is carried out by the vehicle and includes the steps of: detecting one or more channels of operation occupied by one or more other hotspots; selecting a channel of operation for the first vehicle hotspot according to a hotspot coordination policy; and configuring the first vehicle hotspot to use the selected channel of operation thereby allowing the one or more wireless devices to connect to the first vehicle hotspot through wireless communication over the selected channel of operation.

Abstract: A portable system, for use in projecting proprietary host-data-based output to a host device using a dual-layer proprietary-data-provision arrangement including the host device and portable system. A storage component includes one or more first-layer components, of the dual-layer proprietary-data-provision arrangement, that, when executed by a hardware-based processing unit, communicates with the host device by a first wired communication channel or a first short-range wireless communication channel to receive the proprietary host data from the host device. The storage also includes a portable-system application that, when executed, generates, based on the proprietary host data, proprietary host-data-based app output. And the storage includes one or more second-layer components, of the arrangement, that, when executed, communicate with the host device by a second wired communication channel or a second short-range wireless communication channel to provide the proprietary host-data-based app output to the host device for rendering at the host device.

Abstract: Systems and method are provided for participative map anomaly detection and correction. In one embodiment, a processor-implemented method for map anomaly detection is provided. The method includes receiving, by a processor in a vehicle, pre-planned trajectory data from a navigation module in the vehicle, retrieving, by the processor, sensor data from one or more vehicle sensing systems, analyzing, by the processor, the sensor data and the pre-planned trajectory data, identifying, by the processor, an anomaly from the analysis, and transmitting information regarding the anomaly to a central repository external to the vehicle wherein the central repository is configured to analyze the information regarding the anomaly to determine if a navigation map attribute is incorrect.

Abstract: A portable or embedded system including a hardware-based processing unit and a non-transitory storage device. The storage device also includes a policy engine that, via the hardware-based processing unit, determines, based on the vehicle-context data and the application data received, a corresponding policy to be effected at the host device, and an output module that, via the hardware-based processing unit, sends to the host-device a communication indicating a host-device action, corresponding to the policy determined, for affecting host-device operation according to the host-device action. The technology also includes the storage device and methods for performing the referenced functions.
