    摘要: A thin-film magnetic head comprises a medium facing surface, a bottom pole layer, a top pole layer, a coupling portion, a recording gap layer, and a thin-film coil. The coupling portion is disposed away from the medium facing surface and couples the bottom pole layer to the top pole layer. The recording gap layer is disposed between the pole portion of the bottom pole layer and the pole portion of the top pole layer. The bottom pole layer incorporates: a first layer disposed to face toward the thin-film coil; a second layer, a third layer and a fourth layer that are disposed near the medium facing surface; and a coupling layer disposed away from the medium facing surface and coupling the bottom pole layer to the top pole layer. The thin-film coil incorporates a first coil having turns part of which are disposed between the second layer and the coupling layer; a second coil having turns at least part of which are disposed between turns of the first coil; and a connecting layer disposed on a side of the third layer and connecting the first coil to the second coil in series.

    摘要: A power roller bearing of a toroidal-type continuously variable transmission unit that is used for a transmission of an automobile or the like comprises a power roller, an outer race, balls, a retainer, etc. Annular raceway grooves are formed individually on the respective opposite end faces of the outer race and the power roller. Treated-surface layers for enhancing the endurance of the power roller bearing are formed individually on the respective surfaces of the raceway grooves. The treated-surface layers include super-finished surfaces with the surface roughness of 0.05 Rad or less, formed individually on the raceway grooves, and low-friction layers formed individually on the super-finished surfaces. Alternatively, the treated-surface layers include residual compression stress layers formed on the respective surface layer portions of the raceway grooves by shot-preening.

    摘要: The invention is directed to improvement of a write element of a thin film magnetic head. In said write element, a first coil and a second coil are provided on a first insulating film formed on one surface of a first magnetic film and surround in a spiral form a back gap portion. One of the first coil and the second coil is fitted into the space between coil turns of the other, insulated from the coil turns of the other by a second insulating film, and the first and second coils are connected to each other so as to generate magnetic flux in the same direction. One of said first coil and said second coil has a side surface being adjacent to the pole portion with the second insulating film and another side surface being adjacent to the back gap portion with the second insulating film, and each of said side surfaces has a taper angle making the sectional shape of the coil narrower in the lower part and wider in the upper part. The upper surfaces of said first and second coils form the same plane.

The support portions are provided with ball splines and radial needle bearings. During operation, loads acting on the first trunnions are cancelled within the yokes. Axial displacements and rocking displacements of the first trunnions are effected smoothly by the ball splines and the radial needle bearings.

    摘要: An object of the invention is to facilitate processing and to obtain sliders as many as possible when the sliders for thin-film magnetic heads are manufactured through the use of a circular-plate-shaped wafer in which a plurality of rows of sections to be the sliders are aligned. The circular-plate-shaped wafer includes the rows of the sections to be the sliders aligned in one orientation. Each of the sections to be the sliders includes a thin-film magnetic head element. Three types of slider materials having different widths are cut out from the wafer. Each of the three types of slider materials includes rows of the sections to be the sliders. Processing including lapping is performed on a surface to be medium facing surfaces of each of the three types of slider materials. The materials are then separated to form slider aggregates each of which includes one of the rows of the sections to be the sliders. Rails are formed in a surface to be the medium facing surfaces of the slider aggregates. The slider aggregates are then separated.
