    摘要: An apparatus and a method to track the channel response for subcarriers in an OFDM receiver for a packet of information that includes a known transmitted part. The receiver has a signal-to-tone transformer to determine subcarriers corresponding to a received packet. The method stores a function of an initial estimate of the channel response for a subcarrier, and accepts a pre-decision constellation point value that is a post channel correction using a first estimate of the channel response. The method includes: makes a decision using the pre-decision constellation point value, re-modulates the decision to form a post-decision constellation point value, and forms a complex valued product of the function of the first estimate for the subcarrier and the complex-valued ratio of the pre-decision and post-decision values. This complex valued product forms a measure of the current channel estimate to use for updating the stored quantity.

    摘要: An apparatus and a method to estimate the channel response for a set of subcarriers in an OFDM receiver. The receiver receives a packet of information that includes a known transmitted part having known subcarrier values, and includes a signal-to-tone transformer to determine the subcarriers of a signal corresponding to a received packet. For each subcarrier, the method stores a function of an initial estimate of the channel response for the subcarrier, and accepts a post-channel correction pre-decision constellation point value for the subcarrier. The method further includes making a decision using the pre-decision constellation point value, re-modulating the decision to form a post-decision constellation point value, and forming a complex valued product of the function of the first estimate for the subcarrier and the complex-valued ratio of the pre-decision and post-decision values to forms a measure of the current channel estimate to use for updating the stored quantity.

    摘要: Communication satellite downlink transmitting and reception techniques includes circuitry which groups a predetermined number of data cells with a predetermined error correction code to generate frame bodies. The circuitry also groups the frame bodies with header symbols and trailer symbols to generate data frames. One or more modulators enable the placement of the modulated data frames into a plurality of frequency bands having a predetermined frequency range and a predetermined transmission rate. One or more antennas transmit the modulated data frames over one or more beams with different forms of polarization to other antennas. A demodulator is connected to demodulate the radio carrier signals and the beams into data frames from a plurality of frequency bands. Decoders are connected to decode the frame bodies with header symbols and with trailer symbols from the data frames and to decode four data cells as a group by using a predetermined error correction code.
