    摘要: A ligament fixator for a ligament anchor system and a process its use in an arthroscopic procedure for mounting a ligament graft end in a tunnel formed into a bone. The anchor system includes footing member for positioning in a bone tunnel, and includes a longitudinal opening formed therethrough, and a ligament carrying member that has a forward of proximal portion for fitting through the member longitudinal opening and includes a coupling for securing it to the footing member. The ligament carrying member further including as a rear or distal portion that incorporates a ligament mounting section having a center longitudinal axis wherefrom at least one and preferably a pair of spaced apart pointed posts extend at essentially right angles that include serrations or downwardly sloping teeth formed along at least one side of each post, the post or posts for passing through transverse holes formed in an end of a ligament graft, such as a bone end of a bone tendon ligament graft, with the ligament graft bone end urged onto the mounting plate posts axially mounting it thereto. The ligament carrying member with axially mounted ligament graft are guided in the bone tunnel and into the footing longitudinal opening, with the ligament carrying member to lock therein, completing the ligament graft end mounting in the bone tunnel. With, after the ligament graft is placed under tension and the opposite graft end secured, should an adjustment of ligament graft tension be desirable, the footing member is turned appropriately in the bone tunnel.

    摘要: An anterior cruciate ligament or soft tissue tensioning and knee displacement measuring device and method for its use to apply a tensile stress into a repaired or replaced graft and to maintain tension on that graft while an interference screw, or like fastener, is turned into a tunnel section end, containing the graft or sutures connected to the graft, wedging it against the tunnel wall, and, during application of the tensile stress, for determining the distance that the knee is displaced. The invention includes a tensioning device having, as a body, a pair of straight rails with a cross member secured across the rails rear or distal ends with forward or proximal rail ends connected to mounting tubes that are for fitting into pins as have been mounted into to extend from a bone cortex, alongside the tunnel section end, and including a trolley maintained to travel between the body rails. The trolley includes a mount arranged to receive and maintain sutures that extend out from the tunnel end, with trolley movement provided by turning a connected rod turned through the cross member to impart a tensile force into the ligament graft, with the amount of the applied force measured by a slide indicator arranged with the trolley. Additionally, the invention includes the knee displacement measuring device for measuring displacement during application of a tensile stress to sutures attached to the ligament graft.

The groove intersects, on its proximal end, an inlet end of a second curved passage that extends through and exits the driver body surface on the opposite side to the longitudinal groove and first curved passage end, which first curved passage, longitudinal groove and second curved passage are to receive the suture threaded therethrough. The invention provides several embodiments of arrangements for maintaining the threaded suture alongside the driver body, and provides, on the driver body proximal end, a drill coupling arrangement that is to fit into and be turned by a conventional drill, T-handle, or the like, for seating the anchor into a bone material.

Each member includes a tool engaging end for receiving a turning tool fitted thereto, with threads formed around the member body, and provides, in the embodiment a twist drill as a member forward end for turning into the bone material. The system can be configured for use in a dental procedure where a ceramic or plastic crown or bridge can be formed on one member for installation onto the other member that has been turned into a patient's jaw, or one of the members can be configured as a bone joint fusion member.

The interference screw is provided with a drill end (11) that extends longitudinally from an end of a cylindrical body (14), which drill end includes equally spaced flutes (12) therearound.     摘要: The invention provides a system for surgically implanting an allograft or prosthetic ligament as a replacement for a patient's cruciate ligaments. In a practice of the system, as a replacement for an anterior cruciate ligament, the patient's leg is bent and maintained at approximately a ninety degree (90.degree.) angle, a single incision is made medial to the tibial tuberosity, From this incision, under fluoroscopic and arthroscopic control, a guidewire is driven through the tibia and across the cruciate ligament junctions with the proximal tibia and distal femur ends and into the femur cortex. Succesively larger drills are then turned along the guidewire to form a ligament tunnel, with, as a last step in the tunnel formation process, the preparation of the femur cortex end of the tunnel to receive a femoral connector of the implanted ligament, which connector is arranged in one embodiment to be outwardly flared and in another embodiment to be turned into the appropriately prepared femur end of the ligament tunnel to lock therein. The invention, in addition to the embodiment of the ligament femur end connectors, further includes a tibial surface ligament tibial end connector for both securing the ligament end to the bone and the setting ligament tensioning, of which ligament connectors can be manufactured from a biodegradable material for absorption by the body.

    摘要: An endosteal ligament fixation device for mounting to a bone end of a bone tendon bone graft for use as a replacement anterior or posterior cruciate ligament. The endosteal ligament fixation device consists of a disk, collar, ring or band that is arranged to be fitted and secured to the graft bone end that includes a number of radially equidistant spaced outwardly projecting resilient barbs or pins extending therefrom, or may involve forming radially equidistantly spaced slanted holes into the graft bone end for mounting individual resilient barbs or pins. The barbs or pins can be sharp, blunt, or otherwise configured to extend into and to hold securely within a bone endosteum. A number of which barbs or pins are set radially into the disk, collar, ring or band, or individually into the bone end so as to be angled to extend off of and are spaced apart from the bone end surface, pointing towards the tendon coupling with that bone end. The barbs or pins are to individually flex inwardly during passage along the ligament tunnel wall when the graft bone end is urged therealong. At the tunnel end, the resilient barbs or pins are to flex outwardly into the bone endosteum, seating the graft bone end therein, and will fully extend into the bone endosteum when a tensile force is applied to the graft.
