A structure having fine ribs with a high dimensional precision is used as the rear panel of a plasma display or as a micro organism carrier for use in a chemical device. The present invention aims to provide a method for manufacturing such a structure at low cost. According to the invention, a composite sheet comprises a surface layer of silicone rubber and a base layer of a steel sheet. Grooves are formed in the surface layer, and filled with a paste material. The paste material is cured to form ribs. After a substrate is placed on the surface layer of the composite sheet, the composite sheet is pressed against the substrate from the base layer side, thereby compressing the ribs and adhering them to the substrate. Thereafter, the ribs and the substrate are removed from the composite sheet. As a result, a structure with fine ribs is obtained.

The means for grasping or the grasping device is attached to the wireless telephone in such a manner such that a wrist of a user of the wireless telephone is maintained in a neutral position while the wireless telephone is operated as a telephone. The means for grasping or grasping device may have, in alternative embodiments, a generally rectangular cross-section shape, a generally cylindrical cross-section shape, or a generally oval cross-section shape.

A telephone which includes a telephone body adapted to receive different earpieces is disclosed. A variety of different earpieces may be coupled to the telephone body. In one embodiment the telephone body has an opening formed in it that exposes a connector receptacle adapted to mate with a connector of an earpiece. By inserting the earpiece into the opening, the connector of an earpiece mates with the connector receptacle so as to mechanically and electrically attach the earpiece to the telephone body. Alternatively, screw threads are used to attach the earpiece to the telephone body. Some earpieces conform generally to the contours of the telephone body and others extend from the telephone body. The ability to couple different earpieces to the telephone body allows for the easy and inexpensive manufacture of telephones having an earpiece conforming to the specific needs of a user.

Since the focusing electrode plate has holding springs which are integrally formed with the focusing electrode plate, resistance-welding becomes unnecessary to prevent field discharge. A concave portion is formed in a main surface of the focusing electrode plate to arrange an insulating member sandwiched between the focusing electrode plate and the photoelectron incidence side of the dynode unit and partially in contact with the concave portion. With this structure, discharge between the focusing electrode plate and the dynode unit can be prevented.

A photomultiplier which can be easily made compact has a dynode unit having a plurality of dynode plates stacked in an electron incident direction in a vacuum container fabricated by a housing and a base member integrally formed with the housing. Each dynode plate is constituted by welding at least two plates overlapping each other. The welding positions do not overlap each other in the stacking direction of the dynode plates. With this structure, field discharge at the welding portions between the dynode plates can be prevented to reduce noise.
