Abstract: A data storage ecosystem that includes a series of devices of increasing size, designed to look and work together as a family, with at least one of the devices being a data storage device having a first consumer-accessible connector and a second high speed connector. The data storage ecosystem also includes a rack-mounted docking unit having a third high speed interfacing connector configured to couple to the second high speed connector of the data storage device when the data storage device is inserted into the rack-mounted docking unit.

Abstract: A data storage system include a disk drive having a rotating ramp assembly that may be moved between an engaged and disengaged position. The rotating ramp assembly may include a ramp extension that is not disposed in overlapping relation to a data storage disk location in the drive when in the disengaged position. However, in the engaged position, the ramp extension may overhang a portion of the data storage disk location. In turn, the head extension may include a ramp surface that allows a head assembly to move to a head parking surface when the rotating ramp assembly is in the engaged position. IN turn, the rotating ramp assembly may be rotated while maintaining the head assembly on the head parking surface, which may be arcuate and extend about at least a portion of the rotating ramp assembly.

Abstract: An issue facing shared read/write player hard disc drives (HDDs) is when a head-media contact event occurs, any resulting plume of debris caused by the contact event not only affects the magnetic disc currently being read or written, but other magnetic discs within the HDD enclosure. The presently disclosed technology is directed as mitigating the potential consequences of such a head-media contact event. By providing one or more internal access doors within the HDD, a magnetic disc currently being read from or written to may be physically isolated from other magnetic discs within the HDD. As a result, in the event of a head-media contact event, any resulting plume of debris caused by the contact event only affects the magnetic disc currently being read or written. The remaining magnetic discs within the HDD are isolated from the plume of debris.

Abstract: A method disclosed herein includes storing a data heat map in local cache of a non-volatile memory express (NVME) controller associated with an NVME device, configuring an asynchronous event notification command in a submission queue associated with the NVME device, generating a request for data migration notification to host based on the data heat map, and communicating the data migration notification to a host using the asynchronous event notification command.

Abstract: The technology disclosed herein provides a system for generating a personal unclonable function (PUF) for a user based on a biometric data related to the user. Implementations of the system include a camera to generate a partial image of a user's tongue, a sensor to generate a moisture level in the user's saliva, a PUF generator configured to generate a PUF benchmark of the user based on combination of the partial image of a user's tongue and the moisture level in the user's saliva, and an access control unit configured to control access to one or more user devices based on the PUF benchmark.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for magnetoresistive asymmetry (MRA) compensation using a digital compensation scheme. In certain embodiments, a method may comprise receiving an analog signal at a continuous-time front end (CTFE) circuit, and performing analog offset compensation to constrain an extremum of the analog signal to adjust a dynamic range based on an input range of an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), rather than to modify the analog signal to have a zero mean. The method may further comprise converting the analog signal to a digital sample sequence via the ADC; performing, via a digital MRA compensation circuit, digital MRA compensation on the digital sample sequence; receiving, via a digital backend (DBE) subsystem, the digital sample sequence prior to digital MRA compensation; and generating, via a DBE, a bit sequence corresponding to the analog signal based on an output of the DBE subsystem and an output of the digital MRA compensation circuit.
