Abstract: A shelf mounting support includes an annular flange portion having a side surface from which projects a cavity defining body portion. The mounting support is adapted to extend through an aperture formed in a liner of an appliance with the body portion of the mounting support being inserted in a respective aperture from an outer insulation zone side of the liner. Each mounting support is initially retained in the aperture through the use of an adhesive element that attaches the flange portion of the mounting support to the liner. Thereafter, the liner is positioned within an outer shell of the appliance and foamed insulation is then injected into the insulation zone and into the internal cavity of the mounting support to anchor the mounting support in position. To support a shelf, a plurality of mounting supports are arranged in a common plane upon which the shelf is adapted to rest.

Abstract: A refrigerating apparatus improves the insulating effect of a refrigerating chamber which is maintained at ultra low temperatures by a twin refrigerating apparatus. A vertical ultra low-temperature freezer 1 is composed of an insulating frame with a composite structure of a vacuum insulating panel and a foam insulating material, an insulating door with a composite structure of vacuum insulating panels and a foam insulating material, and a twin refrigerating apparatus which cools goods stored in the insulating frame. Ultra low temperatures are produced by the twin refrigerating apparatus in which a high-temperature side refrigerant circuit and a low-temperature side refrigerant circuit are in cascade connection.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for freezing products or materials to a super-frozen state, storing them until shipment and shipping them in a super-frozen state. The apparatus consists of two self-contained, super-insulated containers. The first apparatus has at least two compartments, one for freezing and one for storage. The product or material to be frozen is placed in the freezing compartment and frozen to a super-frozen state and then transferred to the storage compartment where it is stored until shipment. The second apparatus is a self contained super-insulated shipping container. When shipment is to be effected, product or material is transferred from a storage compartment of the first apparatus in a super-frozen state to the second or shipping apparatus. The doors of the shipping apparatus are closed and the self-contained, super-insulated apparatus containing super-frozen product or material is shipped to a remote venue.

Abstract: An insulated structure is formed by injection of a foamed thermal-insulating material created by foaming into a space between a plastic board and metal plate with a disposition of copper pipes. A non-halogenated organophosphorus compound having a molecular weight over 150 as an additive with an OH group as a functional group is mixed with the raw materials of the foamed thermal-insulating material including polyol, a foam stabilizer, a catalyst, a foaming agent having at least one component of hydrocarbon, and an organic polyisocyanates. By adding a non-halogenated organophosphorus compound, which has a molecular weight over 150 as an additive with an OH group as a functional group, the burning rate of the foamed thermal-insulating material becomes the same as that of the foamed thermal-insulating material which uses CFC11 as a foaming agent. Also, the possibilities of phosphor corrosion by free ionization to copper pipes, which are disposed inside of the insulated structure, are eliminated and phosphorus transfer to the plastic board and worries of food contamination are also eliminated.

Abstract: A refrigerator includes a housing forming an inner compartment. The housing comprises outer and inner shells, with a space formed between those shells filled with foam. cold air delivered to the compartment is distributed by a damper mounted to the inner shell. The damper includes a cover which is secured to the inner shell by a snap-in connection which avoids the need for separate fasteners.

Abstract: A getter system is provided for use with an evacuated container such as a vacuum insulation panel. The getter system has a first, activated getter material capable of gettering at least a first gas or vapor and a second, different gas or vapor. The getter system also has a second, activated getter material capable of gettering the first, but not the second, gas or vapor. Finally, the getter system includes packaging for the first and second getter materials, such that the first and second getter materials may be placed together within a single compartment of the evacuated container and the second getter material will be more readily exposed to the first gas or vapor than the first getter material. In this manner, the first getter material will be protected from the first gas or vapor even though it is already activated.
