Abstract: In systems and methods of transporting data over an optical transport network, a first client signal and a second client signal are received at a network element of the optical transport network, each of the first client signal and the second client signal comprising a header and a data payload. An optical data unit is assembled comprising the first client signal and the second client signal in sequence, and the optical data unit is transmitted over the optical transport network. The first data payload and the second data payload may not be interleaved, and further, the first header and the second header may not be interleaved. The optical data unit can comprise the first client signal and the second client signal in a time sequence.

Abstract: Retransmission parameters are determined for a wireless device based on a desired retransmission success rate, that is, a probability that subsequent random access requests transmitted from the wireless device re-initiating a contention-based random access procedure with an access node will reach the access node. The retransmission parameters are determined based on at least a quality of service associated with the wireless device, a distance of the wireless device from the access node, and a cell load of the access node. The retransmission parameters include a retransmission power and a retransmission backoff window size. A product of the power and backoff window is scaled such that it can be equated with a retransmission success rate.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and processing nodes for minimizing interference caused by high-powered wireless devices to other wireless devices in the network by determining that a first wireless device assigned to a first power class is located in a potential interference zone of a coverage area of an access node, and deactivating a high-powered transmission mode of the first wireless device. Abstract: Exemplary embodiments described herein include systems, methods, and nodes for selecting a donor for a relay wireless device. Signal levels corresponding to signals received at a relay wireless device from a plurality of access points are determined. Signal information is received from the plurality of access points, wherein the signal information comprises a group identification for each access point. Abstract: Device-to-device (D2D) transmissions by a wireless device may interfere with base station reception of other signals. To mitigate this interference, the wireless device estimates the path loss between itself and the base station. The path loss and the current D2D transmission power level are used to estimate the amount of interference the base station is experiencing as a result of the D2D transmissions from the wireless device. Based on the estimated interference experienced by the base station, the wireless device increases the robustness of the MCS being used and decreases the transmission power level by a corresponding amount. By decreasing the D2D transmission power level, less interference will be experienced by the base station. By increasing the robustness of the MCS, the impact of the reduced D2D transmission power level is mitigated.

Abstract: A first wireless device is served with an access node. The access node has a first coverage area. A second wireless device is served with a sub-cell access node. The sub-cell access node has a second coverage area that is contained within the access node coverage area. Based on the determination to reduce the load on the sub-cell access node, a handover of a wireless device from the sub-cell access node to the access node is caused by reducing the transmit power used by the sub-cell access node. Based on a comparison of a first signal quality indicator associated with a first sub-cell access node to a second signal quality indicator associated with a second sub-cell access node, a transmit power from the first access node is reduced.
