Abstract:
An apparatus and method are described herein which help prevent particles and other contaminants that are generated when an edge of a glass sheet is processed from contaminating or damaging the glass sheet. The apparatus includes an encapsulation device and a processing device. The encapsulation device is capable of supporting two surfaces of a glass sheet. And, the processing device is capable of processing (e.g., cutting, scribing, grinding or polishing) the edge that is adjacent to the supported two surfaces of the glass sheet which are located on a first side of the encapsulation device. The encapsulation device is also capable of substantially preventing particles and other contaminants that are generated when the processing device processes the edge of the glass sheet from reaching the two surfaces of the glass sheet which are located on a second side of the encapsulation device.
Abstract:
The invention features a plug for use with a drug delivery device, wherein the plug defines an expansion control channel, which accommodates thermal expansion of a formulation in a reservoir of a drug delivery device, and an exit channel. In one embodiment, the plug comprises an inner plug member and an outer plug member, which members define an expansion control channel to facilitate release of entrapped air and to accommodate thermal expansion of formulation from the sealed drug reservoir. The plug further defines an exit channel, and may optionally further comprise a frit positioned within the flow pathway just prior to the delivery outlet, or both.
Abstract:
A rotating belt (10) is used to finish the edges (23) of glass sheets (11), such as, the thin sheets (e.g., 0.7 mm) used as substrates for liquid crystal displays (LCDs). The edge (23) of the sheet (11) engages the working zone (15) of the belt (10) along a line segment (17) whose included angle with the direction of motion (19) of the belt (10) is less than 10°. The working zone (15) is brought into contact with the edge (23) by a pressure sensitive platen (13) which can accommodate errors in the positioning of the sheet (11) at the finishing station (12).
Abstract:
A signal receiver and a method for correcting frequency dependent IQ phase errors. The receiver uses a calibration tone generator for generating a calibration tone for providing in-phase (I) and quadrature phase (Q) tone components, I and Q filters for filtering the I and Q calibration tone components for issuing filtered I and Q output tones having undesired frequency dependent I/Q phase error, and a correlator for cross correlating the I and Q output tones for providing a correlation feedback signal. At least one of the I and Q filters has at least one adjustable pole and one adjustable zero. The correlation feedback signal adjusts the frequency of the adjustable poles and zeroes for reducing the frequency dependent I/Q phase error.
Abstract:
The invention features devices and methods for treatment of pain. The drug delivery device is a drug delivery system adapted for whole implantation in a subject and to provide pain relief by delivery of fentanyl or a fentanyl congener (e.g., sufentanil) over a protracted period of time (e.g., at least 3 days or more than 3 days). The device comprises a housing defining a reservoir that contains a drug formulation, a pump operatively connected to the housing so as to facilitate movement of drug out of the reservoir and out of the device, and a thermal expansion element which defines a flow pathway comprising a thermal expansion channel to accommodate thermal expansion of formulation in the reservoir. The device can further comprise a valve positioned within the flow pathway so as to prevent movement of drug out of the reservoir prior to use.
Abstract:
An improved paper clip is provided which has three modes of use, one of which enables part of the paper clip to extend beyond the clipped papers for easy removal and visibility of the clip, another is partially hidden but partially extended for use as a bookmark, or the like, and the final embodiment is completely rotated against the papers so that it is essentially completely hidden.
Abstract:
A removable clip for holding a slip of paper or the like identifying a person or object or describing the history or certain features of an object, the clip comprising a stationary portion having a planar projection and defining a deep bay, and a movable clamp attached to the stationary portion, there being a piece of tape or like adhesive coated sheet applied against the projection and extending into the bay so that the clip can be repeatedly adhered to and removed from the lapel of a suit, a shirt, a piece of equipment, or the like, without damaging the surface to which it is adhered and permitting the replacement of the adhesive sheet as the adhesive weakens so that the effectiveness of the clip is perpetual.
Abstract:
A linkage bridge consisting of a plurality of links rotatably coupled to form an elongated structural platform, each having a rotational stop to form an elongated structural platform and being rotatably coupled for being taken up and carried by a reel which can be mounted on a truck bed, for example. Each of the link members having a bracket on the bottom side thereof for the passage through of a structural rod when the links are paid out in a linear platform configuration. The links at the reel end being passed through a structural guide for lending further structural strength and rigidity thereto.
Abstract:
A remote controlled aircraft includes an aircraft that may be flown. A plurality of light emitters is coupled to the aircraft. A plurality of fans is coupled to the aircraft. Each of the fans may move air thereby facilitating each of the fans to urge the aircraft to fly. A control unit is coupled to the aircraft and the control unit is electrically coupled to each of the fans. The control unit includes a global positioning system. Thus, the control unit may identify a position of the aircraft with respect to Earth. A remote control is provided and the remote control may be manipulated. The remote control is in electrical communication with the control unit such that the remote control controls directional flight of the aircraft.
Abstract:
Various methods, apparatuses, and systems for providing a delayed geotag using GPS devices are described. The GPS device includes a wireless receiver configured to receive satellite state data and satellite range measurements from a plurality of satellites, a communications interface in communication with a media device, and a position engine configured to calculate a geotag. The GPS device can be configured to receive satellite range measurements from one or more satellites at a first point in time when the satellite state data for a minimum number of the satellites is unavailable, and to calculate the satellite state data at that time using satellite state data received at a second, later point in time. The satellite state information at the first point in time is calculated using an algorithm to extrapolate the satellite state data back to the first point in time when the satellite range measurements were made. The GPS device can calculate a geotag using the calculated satellite state data at the first point in time and the corresponding satellite range measurements.
