摘要: A liquid crystal display device includes transparent pixel electrodes disposed at intersections of scanning signal lines and data lines, and a plurality of thin film transistors each of which is provided correspondingly to one of the pixel electrodes. Each of the transistors includes an output electrode connected to one of the pixel electrodes, a control electrode connected to one of the scanning signal lines, and an input electrode connected to one of the data lines. A light-blocking member of a metal is disposed between the substrate and the first insulating film in such a manner as to cover spacing between the pixel electrodes and the data lines adjacent thereto, and a semiconductor layer is interposed between the first insulating film and a portion of the data lines overlying the light-blocking member. The method of making the liquid crystal display device includes the steps of etching a transistor semiconductor layer underlying the output electrode, in the thin film transistors using a photoresist mask formed on the transistor semiconductor layer such that an etched end of the transistor semiconductor layer on a side of the output electrode extends beyond an end of the output electrode, and etching an end of the semiconductor layer underlying the data lines, of the semiconductor layer using a metal film making up the data lines as a mask.

摘要: In order to provide a liquid crystal display apparatus having bright image display and a preferred production yield, a gate insulating film under a transparent pixel electrode on a transparent substrate is provided with an aperture smaller than a plane area of the pixel electrode, and a source electrode pattern under the pixel electrode is composed so as to cross the aperture. Thin film transistors (TFT) of the liquid crystal display apparatus have a gate electrode and a laminate layer of a gate insulating film and a semiconductor film. End portions of the gate electrode and the laminate layer are tapered, and the end portion of the gate electrode is tapered with a taper angle equal to or less than three times (where, less than 90.degree.) of a taper angle at the end portion of the laminate layer.

摘要: A display device includes a plurality of pixel regions each of which is surrounded by a pair of gate signal lines and a pair of the drain signal lines. Each of the pixel regions includes a first electrode and a second electrode formed on one substrate and each of the pixel regions is constituted of a first region and a second region which are arranged in a direction in which the pair of the drain signal lines extend. In the pixel region, the first electrode is formed in a planar shape and below an insulation film, and the second electrode has a plurality of linear parts which extend linearly and are arranged with respect to each other and is formed above the insulation film.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device has a pair of substrates disposed in opposition to one another with a liquid crystal interposed therebetween, active elements formed on one of the pair of substrates, an organic film layer formed to cover the active elements, a light-shielding film formed on another of the pair of substrates, and a sealing material which sticks the pair of substrates together. In the liquid crystal display device, the sealing material is formed integrally along the entire periphery of a display screen, and one of the light-shielding layer and the organic film layer is formed to be extended beyond an area where the sealing material is formed, and the other of the light-shielding layer and organic film layer is formed inside the area where the sealing material is formed.
