摘要： A problem which arises with dispensers for semi-liquid substances lies in there being an outlet channel which is permanently in communication with ambient air. After first use of the dispenser, the corresponding dead volume is filled with semi-liquid substance which quickly becomes spoiled; thereby making subsequent utilization at least difficult and possibly toxic or even impossible. The present invention avoids this difficulty by means of a pushbutton in which the outlet channel is defined by co-operation between a flexible part and a rigid part. The outlet channel extends essentially radially and its volume is reduced when the user applies axial pressure on the pushbutton. A motion transforming system for transforming axial displacement into radial displacement serves simultaneously to retract a plunger received in the outlet channel, thereby disengaging the delivery orifice of the pushbutton. Such a pushbutton is particularly advantageous when used in association with a metering pump type dispenser valve which can then be made without its own outlet valve.

摘要： A piston displacement liquid spray pump comprises a container; a supporting ferrule engaged on the neck of the container, a hollow cylindrical housing supported by the ferrule, and having at least one slit at its upper end to permit air communication between the container and the atmosphere; a stem within the housing; a hollow stem extension telescopically engaged outwardly of the upper section of the stem; an actuator engaging the upper end of the stem extension and capable of biasing it and the stem downwardly; a check valve comprising a seat at the lower end of the housing, a valve chamber above the seat and a bullet-shaped hollow floating valve member; a longitudinal groove along the upper section of the stem and communicating with the hollow extension; a piston slidably movable within said housing and mounted on the lower end of the hollow stem extension with a lost motion engagement to enable the piston to obstruct the groove during its upward stroke and to uncover same during its downward stroke; the piston when the stem is at its uppermost position, being capable of locking the slit to prevent leakage from the container; and spring to bias the stem and the extension upwardly.
