    摘要： A Personal Feedback browser and Personal Profile database is provided for obtaining media files from the internet. A Personal Feedback browser selects media files based on user-specified information stored in the Personal Profile database. The Personal Profile database includes Profile Objects which represent the interests, attitude/aptitude, reading comprehension and tastes of a user. Profile Objects are bundles of key words/key phrases having assigned weight values. Profile Objects can be positioned a specified distance from a Self Object. The distance from the Profile Object to the Self Object represents the effect the Profile Object has in filtering and/or selecting media files for that user. The Personal Feedback browser includes a media evaluation software program for evaluating media files based on a personal profile database. The Personal Profile database is also adjusted based upon user selection and absorption of media files. A sound-to-text software program is provided for translating a sound file to a text file.

    摘要： A method and apparatus for mixing audio signals. Each audio signal is digitized and then transformed into a predefined visual image, which is displayed in a three-dimensional space. Selected audio characteristics of the audio signal, such as frequency, amplitude, time and spatial placement, are correlated to selected visual characteristics of the visual image, such as size, location, texture, density and color. Dynamic changes or adjustment to any one of these parameters causes a corresponding change in the correlated parameter.

    摘要： A method and system for creating voice commands using an automatically maintained log of interactions by a user is provided. In a preferred embodiment, a voice command creation facility maintains a log containing indications of interactions performed by the user. When the facility receives an instruction from the user to create a command, the facility displays at least a portion of the log. The facility then receives user input identifying interactions whose indications are displayed in the log that are to be automatically repeated when the created command is invoked, and creates a command that automatically repeats the identified interactions when invoked.

    摘要： An operation guide system is disclosed which is able to inform an operator only of input operations presently available for a computer, a word processor or the like, and guides operation automatically in case of invalid operation. When an operator taps one of the keys arranged on a keyboard, a key signal is sent out to a key comparison section. The key comparison section determines whether the input key signal is from a key assigned to an available operation in a current operation state or not by referring to information in a key table storing unit. When it is determined that the key signal is not from a presently valid key, it is determined whether a condition for outputting the guide is satisfied or not with reference to a guide condition setting section. If the condition is satisfied, an instruction is given to an operation guide output section to output the operation guide. Further, if the condition is not satisfied, another key signal is awaited. The operation guide output section which receives the instruction outputs the operation guide.

The icon, which represents information about an object available within the computer, can be manipulated by the user to display different faces or views which provide additional information about the object represented by the icon. The user has the ability to manipulate the icon to see additional views of the icon on the computer display device, either by a mouse stroke selection command, keyboard command or menu selection. This selection causes the icon to move from one view or face of the icon to another view or face of the icon. These additional views thus provide additional space in which the icon can supply additional information to the user. Iconic movement from one face or view to another is also typically accompanied by some sound which indicates execution of the movement.

Whenever the pointer of the interface is positioned on the background, the system produces a distinctive tone. Whenever the pointer is positioned in an icon row that is occupied by one or more icons, the system produces a distinctive chord. Whenever the pointer is positioned in the background and not in an occupied row, the system produces stereo effects that give the user information as to the relative left/right position of the pointer. Whenever the pointer is positioned in an occupied row, the amplitude of the left and right stereo channels is controlled such that whenever the pointer is to the left of the leftmost icon, substantially all of the volume is produced by the left speaker and whenever the pointer is to the right of the rightmost icon, substantially all of the the volume is produced by the right speaker. Whenever the pointer is located between the leftmost and rightmost icons, the volume is balanced substantially equally between the two speakers.
