    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently retransmitting radio link control (RLC) protocol data units (PDUs) to one or more UEs. When a user equipment (UE) fails to receive or decode an RLC PDU transmitted by a base station, the UE may transmit a status PDU to the base station indicating that the UE failed to receive or decode the RLC PDU. The base station may receive the status PDU from the UE, and the base station may generate a repair PDU that includes redundant bits of the lost PDU (e.g., the PDU that the UE failed to receive or decode). The base station may then transmit the repair PDU to the UE, and the UE may use the redundant bits in the repair PDU (e.g., in combination with buffered PDUs) to attempt to correctly decode the lost PDU.

    Abstract: In an aspect, a slave UE and a master UE each establish an attachment to a core network of a cellular communications system. The slave UE obtains security credentials configured to encrypt and decrypt traffic between the slave UE and the core network. A D2D connection is established between the slave UE and the master UE (e.g., tethering). One or more communication functions are offloaded from the slave UE to the master UE, including at least one communication function with the core network for maintaining the attachment of the slave UE to the core network. Application-layer data is relayed to/from the slave UE over the D2D connection. In an aspect, either the slave UE or the master UE may perform encryption and decryption of control plane signaling using the slave UE's security credentials.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a UE and a network device for wireless communication. The UE sends an indication to a network device indicating a capability of receiving a PWS signal and/or a delay requirement for receiving the PWS signal. The UE receives, from the network device, a configured DRX cycle value associated with the indication and a paging signal corresponding to the PWS signal associated with the configured DRX cycle value. The network device determines whether the UE is capable of receiving the PWS signal and whether the UE desires to receive the PWS signal within a duration. The network device configures a DRX cycle value based on the determination and sends, to the UE, the configured DRX cycle value and a paging signal corresponding to the PWS signal based on the configured DRX cycle value. Other aspects, features, and embodiments are also claimed and described.
