    Abstract: A split ring planetary drive with at least one travel end stop received in at least one pocket of a first ring gear. The travel end stop is moveable between a first stop position in which as the planetary drive rotates in a direction the travel end stop engages the stop on the planet carrier, preventing further rotation of the split ring planetary drive in the direction, and a second position in which the travel end stop does not engage the stop on the planet carrier. The travel end stop may be a deadbolt, a snap ring or pivoting pawl.

    Abstract: A motor control apparatus for adjusting a cam phase includes a motor control part, which controls a current supplied to a stator coil by controlling plural switching elements forming an inverter to turn on and off. The motor control part stops the current supplied to the stator coil each time a motor rotates a predetermined rotation angle interval in a power generation control mode, in which a rotation torque is generated in a direction to impede the motor rotation. The motor control part maintains the power generation control mode when a rotation signal is determined as varying in a predetermined time period. The motor control part switches over an operation mode to a normal control mode to generate a rotation torque in a direction to promote the motor rotation when the rotation signal is determined as not varying in the predetermined time period.

    Abstract: An engine variable camshaft timing phaser (10) includes a sprocket (12) and a planetary gear set (14). The sprocket (12) receives rotational drive input from an engine crankshaft. The planetary gear set (14) includes two or more ring gears (34, 36), multiple planet gears (32), a sun gear (30), a first set of teeth (82), and a second set of teeth (40, 62). One of the ring gears (34, 36) can be connected to the sprocket (12) and one of the ring gears (34, 36) transmits rotational drive output to an engine camshaft. The sun gear (30) engages with the planet gears (32) and is driven by an electric motor (38). In order to bring the planetary gear set (14) to a locked condition, the first set of teeth (82) and the second set of teeth (40, 62) are mated with each other.

    Abstract: A camshaft phaser for controllably varying the phase relationship between a crankshaft and a camshaft of an internal combustion engine includes a housing connectable to the crankshaft and having a housing bore extending therethrough along an axis. A back cover is attached to one axial end of the housing while a front cover is attached to the other axial end of the housing. An output hub connectable to the camshaft is disposed coaxially within the housing and captured axially between the back cover and the front cover. A harmonic gear drive unit is disposed operationally between the housing and the output hub and is connected to a rotational actuator for imparting rotation on the harmonic gear drive unit such that rotation of the harmonic gear drive unit by the rotational actuator causes relative rotation between the housing and the output hub.

    Abstract: A camshaft adjusting device, wherein said camshaft adjusting device has a lubricant supply unit, wherein the lubricant supply unit has a filter device for filtering the lubricant, wherein the filter device has at least one lubricant inlet, at least one lubricant outlet and at least one filter path, wherein the lubricant inlet and the lubricant outlet are fluidically connected to each other by way of the filter path, and wherein an output shaft of the camshaft adjusting device has two wall sections, wherein the at least one filter path is configured in a filter volume between the two wall sections, and wherein the lubricant inlet is at a smaller distance from the axis of rotation than the lubricant outlet, and the filter path extends at least in sections in the radial direction with respect to the axis of rotation.
