    Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods to dynamically indicate preference for self-contained slots and slot duration by a user equipment device (UE) in communication with a base station (e.g., a gNB) using a 5G NR radio access technology. A UE may determine to send an indication to a gNB indicating a preference for self-contained slots and slot duration for downlink and/or uplink communications utilizing one or more of the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), the physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), and/or acknowledgement messaging (ACK/NACK) for downlink communications, and utilizing one or more of the physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), the PDCCH, and/or the physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) for uplink communications. The configuration of self-contained slots and slot duration for uplink and/or downlink may be based on one or more of average packet size, average packet rate, traffic type and UE processing capabilities.

    Abstract: A wireless communication system is presented for adaptive uplink (UL) link adaptation (LA). The adaptive UL LA can include multiple outer loops, for which multiple block error rate (BLER) filtering is performed. Each of the multiple BLER filtering can be performed on groups or sub-groups of subframes, in which each group has the same or similar coding characteristics. For example, one group in TD-LTE could be subframes with sounding reference signal (SRS) and another group could be subframes without SRS. Each of the multiple BLER filtering can use the same or different BLER algorithm, BLER target and/or BLER parameters.

    Abstract: In order to facilitate communication in a dynamic cellular network, an accessibility issue in the dynamic cellular network may be detected. For example, if an electronic device is near the boundary between two adjacent cells in the dynamic cellular-telephone network, the signal power of signals from the adjacent cell may be higher than that of signals from the current servicing cell, which may offer an opportunity to improve communication performance. Thus, the accessibility issue may be detected if the difference is larger than a threshold value (such as 2-4 dB). In response to detecting the accessibility issue, a remedial action may be performed, such as repeating at least a portion of an acquisition process. In this way, the communication technique may improve the communication performance of the electronic device in the dynamic cellular network, thereby improving the user experience and customer satisfaction.

    Abstract: Adaptive neighboring cell measurement scaling by a wireless user equipment (UE) device. The UE may operate alternately in active and inactive states in a periodic manner according to DRX cycle timing for each of a plurality of DRX cycles. Paging messages may be checked for while in the active state during each DRX cycle. If a paging message is received, it may be decoded using a joint detection technique. The UE may adaptively determine whether or not to perform neighboring cell measurements during at least a subset of the DRX cycles, and perform neighboring cell measurements according to the adaptive determination. The adaptive determination may be based on one or more of joint detection of paging messages, one or more previous cell measurements, or an amount of motion of the UE.
