Abstract: The invention relates to systems and methods for recharging sorbent materials and other rechargeable dialysis components. The systems and methods include rechargers, flow paths, and related components for connecting multiple rechargers together to sharing infrastructure and resources. The rechargeable dialysis components can include zirconium phosphate, zirconium oxide, and other sorbent cartridge materials including any combination thereof or any other rechargeable component of a dialysis system. Additionally, a single-use cartridge or a multi-use cartridge can be used in the present invention.

Abstract: The invention relates to a testing system and related methods for detecting peritonitis or infection in peritoneal dialysate removed from a patient. The testing system can include a fluid sensor apparatus in a fluid line of a peritoneal dialysis cycler through which spent peritoneal dialysate can be pumped. The fluid sensor apparatus can detect one or more markers associated with peritonitis or infection.

Abstract: Techniques for modeling therapy fields for therapy delivered by medical devices are described. Each therapy field model is based on a set of therapy parameters and represents where therapy will propagate from the therapy system delivering therapy according to the set of therapy parameters. Therapy field models may be useful in guiding the modification of therapy parameters. As one example, a processor compares an algorithmic model of a therapy field to a reference therapy field and adjusts at least one therapy parameter based on the comparison. As another example, a processor adjusts at least one therapy parameter to increase an operating efficiency of the therapy system while substantially maintaining the modeled therapy field.

Abstract: The invention relates to systems and methods for adjusting one or more dialysis parameters for delivering a peritoneal dialysis cycle to a patient based on patient or system parameters. The systems and methods include various sensors, flow paths, and processors to adjust the dialysis parameters used to deliver peritoneal dialysis therapy, for a specific peritoneal dialysis cycle. For example, a first peritoneal dialysis cycle can provide data on patient or system parameters that can be used to adjust the dialysis parameters used to deliver a subsequent peritoneal dialysis cycle. One or more peritoneal dialysis cycles are contained in a particular peritoneal dialysis therapy session. Patient parameters can include patient blood pressure; volume of fluid removed; patient goal; blood solute level; effluent solute level; effluent temperature; effluent color or clarity; patient posture; tidal volume remaining in patient; and intraperitoneal pressure.

Abstract: The disclosure is directed to securing electrodes of a medical lead adjacent to a target tissue site. The medical lead may include one or more threaded fixation structures disposed circumferentially about the outer surface of the lead body, or elongated member, that resembles a “screw” or “auger.” During implantation, a clinician may rotate the entire lead to “screw” the lead into the tissue of the patient until electrodes of the lead reside adjacent to a target tissue. In this manner, the threaded fixation structure secures the lead within the patient to resist lead migration and improper therapy and provide a fine adjustment for depth of placement. The threaded fixation structure may be disposed on a portion of the lead proximal to or distal to the electrodes of the lead or over the portion of the lead that includes the electrodes.
