Abstract:
Techniques for using multiple physiological parameters to provide an early warning for worsening heart failure are described. A system is provided that monitors a multiple diagnostic parameters indicative of worsening heart failure. The parameters preferably include are least one parameter acquired from an implanted device, such as intrathoracic impedance. The system device derives an index of the likelihood of worsening heart failure based upon the parameters using a Bayesian approach and displays the resultant index for review by a physician.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method includes determining when a relay arrangement is available to pair with an endpoint. The relay arrangement is arranged to wirelessly communicate with the endpoint and to communicate over a wired network. The method also includes authenticating the endpoint with respect to the relay arrangement when the relay arrangement is available to pair with the endpoint, and pairing the endpoint with the relay arrangement if the endpoint is authenticated with respect to the relay arrangement. Pairing the endpoint with the relay arrangement includes the endpoint and the relay arrangement engaging in wireless communications, as well as the relay arrangement engaging in wired communications over the wired network.
Abstract:
The capability to suspend a patient alert relating to a monitored physiologic parameters addresses a need to selectively shut off a patient-alert signal or signals during the time a patient is being treated for an excursion in the parameter. Of course, in general a signal call attention to a patient's a potentially deleterious status or condition for which they should seek medical attention. Once a chronically-implanted monitoring device has detected or provided information about the parameter relative to a desired value, trend, or range and a clinician has been notified and intervened the alert signal is temporarily disabled for a predetermined period. That is, once the notification occurs and alert has served its purpose, the alert mechanism is selectively deactivated while the patient ostensibly begins to gradually correct the monitored physiologic parameter under a caregiver's direction and control. After which time, the alert will reactivate.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method includes obtaining context information associated with a call into a call center. The context information includes at least one input provided by a caller during the call. The method also includes determining when the caller requests an interaction with an agent associated with the call center, and providing the context information to the agent when the caller requests the interaction with the agent. A communications session is maintained between the caller and the agent when the caller requests the interaction with the agent.
Abstract:
Techniques and configurations for an apparatus are provided for creating and managing meetings using gestures. Movements of a user's hand in a three-dimensional space are detected. The hand movements in the three-dimensional space are interpreted to identify a gesture intended by the user to set up or manage a meeting among a plurality of persons. An electronic command is generated from the detected gesture to set up or manage the meeting.
Abstract:
Disclosed are video conferencing systems, devices, architectures, and methods for transcoding, transrating, and the like, to facilitate video streaming in a distributed arrangement. An exemplary translator in accordance with embodiments can include: an input configured to receive a first video stream in a first format, the first video stream being from a first media switch, the first media switch being associated with a first stream group having one or more first endpoints; and an output configured to provide a second video stream in a second format, the second video stream being sent to a second media switch, the second media switch being associated with a second stream group having one or more second endpoints, whereby the translator is configured to convert from the first to the second format. Further, the translator can be configured as a logical endpoint where a first interface having an input/output pair uses the first format and a second interface having another input/output pair uses the second format. The two formats may differ in at least one characteristic.
Abstract:
A method for retrieving data in a data source is provided. The method includes receiving a search term; identifying an active tag associated with the search term; correlating the active tag to dynamic data that is operative to adapt to a mining context in which data is stored; and retrieving the data using the dynamic data.
Abstract:
A method for executing a video conference is provided that includes receiving one or more audio streams associated with a video conference from one or more end points and determining an active speaker associated with one of the end points. Audio information associated with the active speaker may be received at one or more media switches. One or more video streams may be suppressed except for a selected video stream associated with the active speaker, the selected video stream propagating to one or more of the media switches during the video conference. The selected video stream may be replicated such that it may be communicated to one or more of the end points associated with a selected one of the media switches.
Abstract:
Methods and/or devices are disclosed herein for monitoring cardiac impedance signal and delivering therapy to a patient's heart based upon the monitored cardiac impedance.
Abstract:
A medical device performs a method for determining a cardiac event by obtaining a signal comprising cardiac cycle length information in a patient and determining cardiac cycle lengths during an established time interval. Noise is detected during the time interval and a cardiac cycle length corresponding to a time of the detected noise is rejected. Cycle length differences are determined from the cycle lengths not rejected during the time interval. The cardiac event is determined in response to the cycle length differences.
