Abstract:
The disclosed embodiments include system and method for routing communications over a communications network. In one embodiment, a determination is made as to whether to establish a communication along a communication path based on network performance information. The disclosed embodiments provide several alternatives for establishing the communication and improving communications along the communication path in response to a determination that at least one network node along the communication path is impaired or congested.
Abstract:
Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing model driven service state machine linkage functionality amongst different machines and/or networks. In some embodiments, a computing system of a first network associated with a first entity might establish a communication link with a node of a second network associated with a second entity. The computing system might determine whether there is a common network resource state schema between the two networks, and, if so, might identify available versions, then negotiate which version to use as common version. The computing system might retrieve network state information for the two networks, might generate a user interface that incorporates and presents the network state information for the two disparate networks consistent with the common version of the common schema, and might send the user interface to a user device of a user for display of the network state information of the two disparate networks.
Abstract:
A system and method for controlling communications networks. Network performance information is gathered from a first communications network using performance information packet data packets. A network operator of the first communications network is controlled from a secondary communications network using the performance information packet data packets. Changes to the network operator are implemented based on instructions included in the performance information packet data packets.
Abstract:
A method of monitoring the connection of a first end-user device to a network includes determining the amount of bandwidth present, tracking the amount of bandwidth in use by different classes of traffic, and tracking performance of the connection to detect when a threshold crossing has been reached. The method also includes transmitting a query to the first end-user device in response to the determined reaching of the threshold, the query requesting from a user of the first end-user device a communication action to perform based on the threshold being reached. The method further includes changing the communications session between the first end-user device and the network in accordance with the received communication action.
Abstract:
Novel tools and techniques might provide for implementing access constructs for a network, and, in some cases, for implementing access constructs for cloud orchestration. In some embodiments, a network might provide connectivity between a first access node(s) in the network and a hardware node(s) or between two or more first access nodes, via a corresponding first link(s). An apparatus, such as one disposed at an orchestration node or the like in the network, might bridge a second access node over one or more of at least one first access node or at least one first link (“bridge node or link”), and might roll service over to the second access node from the bridged node or link. Based on a determination that failure has occurred during service through the second access node, the apparatus might roll service back over to the bridged node or link, from the second access node.
Abstract:
The disclosed embodiments include a system, computer program product, and method for modifying communications of a communications network. For example, in one embodiment, a computer implemented method for modifying communications of a communications network comprises receiving performance information packets that includes network performance information associated with the communications network, and transmitting a command to a specified access point based on the network performance information. In certain embodiments, the command instructs the specified access point to perform at least one of reconfiguring itself based on a particular set of configuration parameters, restarting itself, running diagnostic routines, increasing buffered data, refreshing a routing table, modifying a routing table, terminating a particular process or processes, and terminating all operations.
Abstract:
A system, method, and server for distributing content. The system includes a number of servers in communication with the Internet and configured to provide subscribers of the communications service provider with access to content stored on the number of servers without having to access external networks including the Internet. The system further includes a remote content management application operating on at least one of the number of servers and configured to provide content providers with: (1) digital rights management (DRM) and (2) guaranteed quality of service (QoS) to the subscribers of the communications service providers, wherein the content providers establish the DRM and the QoS.
Abstract:
A system and method for communicating alarms. Packets are communicated through multiple maintenance entities in one or more networks. A determination is made that there is a failure between or at one of the multiple maintenance entities in the one or more networks. An alarm is generated at a maintenance entity nearest the failure in response to determining there is a failure. The alarm indicates a location of the failure and an identification of a communications service provider associated with the failure. The alarm is communicated back through one or more of the multiple maintenance entities to a maintenance end point. The alarm is routed to at least a communications service provider determined to be associated with the failure.
Abstract:
A system and method for separating clock recovery for a pseudowire communication. An incoming signal is received for a pseudowire communication. The incoming signal is separated into a first signal and a second signal. Packets within the first signal are ordered in a first register. A clock signal is extracted from the second signal in a second register to generate a modified clock signal. A delay is incurred during generating of the modified clock signal. The first signal is communicated utilizing the modified clock signal.
Abstract:
The disclosed embodiments include a computer implemented method for routing data packets. In one embodiment, the method includes storing network usage information of a packet network managed by a communications carrier including network usage information associated with communications by subscribers of other communications carrier that communicate data packets over the packet network, the network usage information distinguishing between data packets associated with a first service and data packets associated with a second service; determining pricing information for communicating the data packets via a plurality of networks, wherein each network is associated with a different communications carrier; and selecting one of the plurality of networks for routing the data packets based on cost, wherein the cost includes a first cost for communicating the data packets that are associated with the first service and a second cost for communicating the data packets that are associated with the second service.
