Abstract: To provide a display device with excellent display quality, in a display device including a signal line, a scan line, a transistor, a pixel electrode, and a common electrode in a pixel, the common electrode is included in which an extending direction of a region overlapping with the signal line differs from an extending direction of a region overlapping with the pixel electrode in a planar shape and the extending directions intersect with each other between the signal line and the pixel electrode. Thus, a change in transmittance of the pixel can be suppressed; accordingly, flickers can be reduced.

Abstract: To provide a thin touch panel, a touch panel with high visibility, a lightweight touch panel, or a touch panel with low power consumption. A pair of conductive layers included in a capacitive touch sensor have a mesh shape including a plurality of openings. Furthermore, a material blocking visible light is provided to overlap with a region between two display elements in a plan view; thus, a light-blocking layer can be obtained. Furthermore, the pair of conductive layers included in the touch sensor are provided between a pair of substrates included in the touch panel, and a conductive layer capable of supplying a constant potential is provided between a circuit which drives a display element and the pair of conductive layers.

Abstract: To provide a thin touch panel, a touch panel having a simple structure, a touch panel which can be easily incorporated into an electronic device, or a touch panel with a small number of components. The touch panel includes pixel electrodes arranged in a matrix, a plurality of signal lines, a plurality of scan lines, a plurality of first wirings extending in a direction parallel to the signal lines, and a plurality of second wirings extending in a direction parallel to the scan line. Part of the first wiring and part of the second wiring function as a pair of electrodes included in a touch sensor. The first wiring and the second wiring each have a stripe shape or form a mesh shape and are each provided between two adjacent pixel electrodes in a plan view.

Abstract: A thin display device, a lightweight display device, or a bendable display device is provided. The display device can be fabricated by a method including a first step of forming a first electrode and a second electrode over a substrate such that they are apart from each other; a second step of sequentially forming a light-blocking layer over a support substrate, a resin layer covering the light-blocking layer, and a first coloring layer and a second coloring layer over the resin layer; a third step of bonding the substrate and the support substrate to each other with a liquid crystal layer containing liquid crystal, monomers, and a polymerization initiator positioned therebetween; a fourth step of performing light irradiation from the support substrate side so that the monomers in the liquid crystal layer are polymerized in a region not shielded by the light-blocking layer; and a fifth step of performing separation between the resin layer and each of the support substrate and the light-blocking layer to remove the support substrate and the light-blocking layer.

Abstract: Power consumption of a display device is reduced. Display quality of a display device is improved. A high-quality image can be displayed regardless of a usage environment. The display device includes a first display element, a second display element, and a control portion. The first display device reflects visible light. The second display element emits visible light. The control portion is configured to drive the first display element and the second display element at the same time such that a maximum value of luminance of light emitted from the second display element is greater than or equal to 1% and less than or equal to 50% of maximum luminance on the assumption that maximum luminance of light which is emitted from the second display element is 100%.

Abstract: A novel liquid crystal display device is provided. Two pixels each include a transistor that includes a back gate. The transistor is connected to the common gate line and data line. A threshold voltage is controlled by a control signal supplied to a back gate so that while data is written to one pixel, the transistor of the other pixel is not turned on. The aperture ratio is improved by reducing the number of wirings connected to the pixel and increasing the frequency of the control signal supplied to the back gate.
